It is not too old to start at 16 years old but the amount of commitment and dedication will at the end of the day prove how good the person will become as a martial artist. I started at 18 years old and many years later now hold a 4 th dan in karate.

No, it's NOT too late to start a martial art. I started when I was 17. Anybody can learn as long as they are willing.

It is never to late to start learning. I know a 60 year old that is a blue belt in karate. Plus my 15 year old cousin just started around 6 months ago. Go for it! Learn about the different types and find out which is better for you though.

No, it's not too late for a 16 year old to start training in martial arts. Even if you were 80yrs old, it still wouldn't be too late--although at age 80, performing spinning and jumping kicks might be a bit more difficult. ;-) lol

Not at all! I'm 16 and I just started training, there is a guy that is 19 at the same place and he started a month before me. One of the teachers there started when he was 19. It's never too late! Definitely go for it!

16 too old? II hope not! I started training MMA at 42. I am now 44 and still improving each and every day.

Simply be humble and realize that there may be kids younger than you with much more experience. Accept that and move on. You have plenty of time to get to any level that you have the will, skill, desire, and drive to reach.

Next year you're going to be 17, whether you train in a martial art or not.
You could be 17 with a year of experience in martial arts, or you could be 17 without that training.
So there's no day like today for getting started.

Of course it's not too late. I know a guy that teaches Tae Kwon Do and he was telling me about a guy in his mid 40's that started. And he was doing fairly well.
