#### Before answering this question please note this is not an attack on Muslims.Muslims are normal people, just like any other, some good, some not so.
I am Muslim, and I do not want any bigoted answers. This is just some concerned advice. Also I am not addressing my questions to Muslims as a group, just those individuals that deny the holocaust#####
I'm an European Muslim, and for Europeans the holocaust was the worst crime in our history. Millions where slaughtered in a cruel and systematic way. It is a stain on our history.
It is an insult when people try to deny what happended, or say that it wasn't such a crime. I think it is shameful when there are Muslims that support David Irving or Ernst Zundel. Or when Amadinjad made cartoons making fun of the holocaust.
As Muslims it is sinful to make fun of the victims. We should give respect.

Asalaam aliekum. I have also traveled too. And I have met many Muslims that do deny holocaust.
Now alot of this is ignorance. . I have met people who told me' Hitler as the greatest European' Because they live far away from Europe. And weren't educated about it
I also heear quite often more educated people say that it wasn't 6 milion, but 3 milions etc ... You can read answers like this on yahoo answers.
Or people try to compare tragedys. This is wrong because We shouldn't try to were OK, the holocaust was bad but so was.. the 'xxxxxx'. As a way of diminishing it. All these crimes are bad. We must not say one balances out the other.
As for Bosnia. Israel is not to blame for that. Ask Bosian Muslims. They will tell you they got very little support from fellow Muslims. They felt very ignored.
I think by insulting the holocaulst it doesn't help the Palastinain cause but tarnishes it.

OK... So many points here....
1st @The Kid, What you say about Bosnia is WRONG WRONG WRONG!
based on a very poor understanding of the Balkans. Bosnians Muslims did not slaughter Jews. There are Bosnians amongst the rightoeus such as Dervis Korkut. The reasons the Bosnians joined the Skanderberg is the fight the serb cheniks, who were attacking them not to help the Nazis. It was more like a civil war.
There many Bosnians who joined the partisans and fought against the Nazis.
Why not mention the catholic croatian Ustasha, ot the Ukrainain division, or even that the perpertrators of the holocaust were German. It is wrong to suggust that Muslims were to blame for the holocaust or supported it.
But it isn't just your fault. It is also the fault of Muslims who deny the holocaust. It allows those with an anti Muslim agenda to only mention the Muslims who shameful helped the Nazis, and not those who saved jews. + to claim that Muslims have always hated Jews. This is not true.

@kid.. But I must thank you for trying not to insult Muslims, I have seen some of your other posts . I'm glad you could tone it down :-))
@There is a right to freedom of speech, but not one to insult. I was very sad when the Danish newspaper published that awful cartoon. It was very wrong.
But the make fun of the holocaust as a response in VERY wrong. And demeans us. The prophet Mohammed pbuh didn't respond to insults.
The Jews weren't even the ones who published the cartoons. It was the Danes. And at least in England that papers were very respectful and none publised it.
I'm sad to be proved right, but some of the answers to my question diminished the holocaust
Can't anyone see how denying this monsterous event is actually harming the palastinian cause, not helping

@paperback writer. I live in the UK and the story you said isn't wholly true.
What has happened is that some pc teachers.. , not muslims themselves. have thought that by teaching the holocaust it is offensive to Muslims.. so they try not to offend. They are wrong nobody is offended. I would be personally offended as a Muslim if they didn't teach it.
The holocaust is on the national curriculum in the UK and can't be removed.
And I wouldn't listen to what children want. UK teenagers are very naughty. And never want to learn anything:p

as-salaam aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
I am Muslim and of all of my Muslim friends and family has never ever denied the holocaust. I have encountered some online however who do deny it, and I quickly pointed out to them how wrong they were. I spoke to them on how wrong it is to use their hate towards the zionists in Israel as part of their excuse to ignore the truth that the holocaust was real. It really is a part of their hatred they have towards the Jews that give them the justification to go ahead and deny the truth, despite there being extensive evidence that the holocaust was horrifyingly real.
Also, some Muslims who hate so much they will deny the holocaust are probably also hurt and angry over the creation of Israel. Was it created fairly? no of course not. Why did the Palestinians have to give up their homes and land to the Jews when Germany should have done it themselves? But alas, what is done is done and it has been so long now that the thought of abolishing Israel will never bring peace to that region. But the hatred of this has also gotten some Muslims to help them justify the denial of the holocaust.
It is very alarming to know that people out there are denying what happened and you know, it isn't just some Muslims who deny it... there are even a few Jews and others (I suppose conspiracy theorists) who deny it as well.
I also do not get annoyed how much of the holocaust is mentioned by Jews and non-Jews. The only thing I HATE when the holocaust is mentioned, is, probably about 80% of the time, people only tend to mention the Jews who were murdered. I just always remind people who do this to make sure they acknowledge all the other non-Jews who were victims of murder during the holocaust as well.
I think it is important for people to keep talking about it as well, because we must never let it be forgotten. We also are in a time where we have a huge opportunity to keep hearing and recording the stories of the survivors who are still alive today. They may be gone tomorrow, but the records we keep will be available for our future generations.
You know what is scary right now though? Is that there are some Muslims who DENY what is going on in Darfur right now!! Astagferallah! The atrocities going on over there are happening RIGHT NOW yet they ignore the evidence and just claim it is all a huge lie!!
**************************
as for the Danish newspaper cartoons, I was ashamed and embarrassed as a Muslim to see the reactions by so many Muslims that the whole world saw and heard. All of the threats that were made, the burnings of embassies, and the stupid announcement of President Ahmadinejad to publish cartoons making fun of the holocaust. All of that was AWFUL, and NONE, absolutely NONE of my friends or family were in agreement with the Muslims who were doing those things.
This was a time to educate as many non-Muslims as we can as to why it is haram to Muslims to make drawings of Prophet Muhammad (salallahu aleyhi wa salaam) and to try and get them to see how much it hurts Muslims to see people making fun of him.
The reactions like the violent protests and the retaliatory holocaust cartoons (and the Jews had WHAT to do with the Danish cartoons?) only paint Muslims in an even darker light and gives non-Muslims more fuel to spread hatred about us.

I am a Muslim and have travelled most countries of the Middle East. I have also had the unpleasant opportunity to visit Dachau Concentration Camp, in Germany. Definitely, the Holocaust happened and there's no denying it. The people who committed it were barbaric criminals and deserve all the condemnation they have attracted thus far.
That said, the world has not learned from what happened in Europe during the time of the Nazis - and this is sad. Similar events have gone on in other countries with almost no attention being paid to them: China (where the Japanese carried out mass murder), Cambodia (where the Khmer Rouge killed 1/4th of the population, Armenia (where the Turks carried out genocide against the people), Russia (where Stalin killed 10 million of his own citizens), and now Darfur.
One would think that the world could have learned something from the mass murders committed by the Nazis. It obviously has not. And Israel has not been very forthcoming in carrying the message that events in other countries, committed against other peoples, is wrong.
But we are all responsible for these matters. And as long as people - be they Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, or whatever - turn their back on things, they will go on. And I believe that the continuation of genocides in the world is the greatest disrespect that we can show to those who suffered from the Holocaust.
Salaam.

There is no comparison between the two. One is a a cold blooded murder while the other is a war. Here are a few things that Palestinians did but Jews did not in Germany: 1. Murder of athletes in the Munich Olympics. 2. Hijack of planes 3. Car bombings 4. Shooting in schools 5. Attacks on Israeli missions abroad. But I guess soon even the above will be denied. Planes were not hijacked, kids were not killed. Athletes were not killed in Munich etc.

As a Muslim, I do NOT deny or reject the holocaust at all. I know it happened for a fact and to deny sucha huge tragedy is absurd. Actually, most Muslims acknowledge the Holocaust, and absolutely no one should be proud of it! Any Muslim who Like Summer said, it is a sin to make fun of such victims.
However, many Muslims who believe in the Holocaust believe that it may have been exaggerated--they do not deny it, they just think that Jews exaggerate it to generate more sympathy and look innocent with everything they do--the numbers don't add up. Some Jews even try to justify questionable actions because they somehow suffered from the Holocaust. Also, over 13 million people died in the Holocaust, and 6 million were Jews. But we can't just ignore the other 7 million who died. Many Jews only give the proper "credit" to themselves when it comes tot he Holocaust and take in all the "sympathy", leaving no room for the others who died. It was not ALL about the Jews. However, the Jews are quick to disregard the other victims of the Holocaust, and they seem upset and disappointed that they just missed the majority, although no doubt the largest group. Saying this, I am NOT trying to justify the Holocaust. I am just explaining why others feel the way you have suggested (except not as many as you made it look deny the Holocaust, but many believe it was exaggerated by the Jews, in favor of the Jews).
Peace to all! (yes, that goes for the Jews as well of course :)
EDIT-- To add, no Jew ever mentions that many Jews from the Holocaust fled to Muslim countries in the Middle East like Turkey. Why are only some things about the Holocaust "exposed" but others carefully hidden?

From a Palestinian point of view the holocaust was a crime against humanity and it is over with and it should never happen again no more Holocausts in our world. But we remind the world that there are more than 6 million Palestinians are dead while they are a life living in Refugees Camps all over the Middle East without any human rights.

Adam it sounds like believes more propaganda that factual reality.
Those Muslims who deminish or deny the Holocaust because they feel if they do so they can eliminate a major argument for the creation of the State of Israel. It is just another propaganda tactic against the existance of the State of Israel and these people would rather have it their way then have peace with their neighbors.
Good Luck!!!
Amazing isn't it that three Muslim posters after me all wrote things to diminish the significance of the Holocaust and somehow I got two thumbs down. That is pretty funny. Especially because they real don't answer the question directly. The question is why do Muslims do this. Too funny.
BTW - there were 11 to 12 million people who were killed during the Holocaust of which around 6 million are Jews - I have never heard this 13 million figure but it sounds like a slight inflation of the number by some people to say that less than half of the people murdered by the Nazis in order to diminish the significance of the Jewish death. What a sick way to do that. However if the number is truer to the fact I would have no problem in accepting - but not as a matter to diminish the significance to the Jewish community which the world at large understood and accepted back in 1945. I would strongly suggest to the Muslims who like to post here they read http://www2.ca.nizkor.org/index.html and realize that their media is used for propaganda and not for reporting the news.

It would be interesting to have some of your questions and comments posted to countries with Muslim majorities (ie, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc.). To reach the most appropriate audience, this question most accurately belongs elsewhere. Still, we enjoy your input in this space : ) !
And, as a number of citizens of the aforementioned countries hang out here regularly (including at least one Egyptian government employee), you seem to be reaching at least some of them.

Good question.
In British schools, teachers are now reporting that they don't want to include the Holocaust in history lessons - they say that some Muslim students are kicking up such a fuss and insisting it's fiction and that this is causing tension.
I find this alarming; something is very wrong.
As to why some Muslims deny the Holocaust, I can only assume it's because they dislike Jews. You also have to remember that during WW2 the Arab world, as a whole, allied itself with Hitler - Arab leaders were his guests of honour and they declared openly their intention to continue his work - the 'final solution' in the Middle East. In other words, exterminating the Jews living in Palestine and in Muslim countries.
Before someone objects to this point: I am not being 'anti Muslim' - I am stating historical, verifiable, objective FACT.
But your question cheers me greatly; the fact that you are a Muslim and that you recognise how wrong it is to deny the Holocaust; hopefully you and others who share your common sense and decency can spread the word...!
And you are right, the cartoons ridiculing the Holocaust are deeply, deeply hurtful.
Am starring your question - it's a really good post.
EDIT; ADAM: Jews do NOT poison wells - for crying out loud! Nobody with any intelligence believes this rubbish.
