Free will. God doesn't want you to believe or love Him just because He can make you. And as for Lucifer/Satan, he had his choice. He did not have to rebel against God, he chose to.
I have a right to believe in God just as much as you do to not believe.

I don't believe in God 'just because of one book'! What is wrong with people that can't watch the miracle of life and accept it? I look at a beautiful sunset and believe there is a God! And when there is so much EVIL in the world, why can't you believe there is a Satan?! Why can't you lay the blame for all this on the evil one? Why do you say if God existed, we wouldn't have the horrible things in the world. I truly believe (and some day it will be so) that if there were no non-believers in the world, we would be living in utopia. And the 'Christians' that kill, murder, lie, deceit, are NOT Christians. They are evil ones hiding behind the name of the Lord. The other answers have already been answered properly by the others. Have a good night and try to open your heart a little to the truth. You Will be amazed..that's a promise. And that is the logic of the TRUTH!

I see your logic, however, there is not but one book that states he exists. If you look at it, every set of "mythology", so to speak, has something very similar to God and Satan. The Norse had Odan and Hel (not to mention Loki), the Greeks had Zeus and Hades. If you analyze this it's really the EXACT same thing.
As for your other questions. Why would God give us free will if he was perfect? Well, again, I don't believe that there is only one belief. If I were a Christian (which I'm not, I'm into the whole "intelligent design" theory, although I'm unsure of who designed it) I'd spew some mindless pap like: "God is almighty! Do not question his powah!". Well, here's my opinion. "God" was invented by man, same as any other religion. Man wants man to have free will, but only to a degree. Religion was invented for those who fear the afterlife, which is most of everyone. Blindly following something does not make one faithful, it makes one brain dead. So, in a way, being a Christian nearly does take away your free will. Religion is a way to control the people of a nation or culture. Without religion, the entire system would collapse.
Humans are naturally skeptical and untrusting. Yes, we are. Having religion has helped us to not go insane, but I think that even the most devout Christian can be skeptical at times. Most of them are complete hypocrites, anyways. This is why you should never say anything personal in church: It'll be all over town in no time.
I think that should be a commandment:
"Thou shalt not give thy neighbor's dirt to thine neighbors."
XD
Anyhoo, great question, sorry I couldn't answer everything, I just did Geometry for 2 hours.

God didn't create humans as skeptical or distrusting. We get that way. How many kids do you know who are naturally born that way? They naturally trust. But as they mature and get burned in life they become like you. The more they are betrayed, the more they distrust. In a way, you can probably trace it right back to their family life and sin in the world in general. It seems these days there is always someone wanting to take advantage of us. Distrust builds even more.
Even in that environment, God creates us. We go through trials and tests, whether you are a believer or not. But for the believer the trials prove our resolve and love for God. Our relationship with God is not based on all the "stuff" that happens in this world. But it sure does shape us. Some wilt under fire and others persevere. Some never get out of the starting blocks because they do not believe in God. It's probably because of that distrust issue again. Many are called but few are chosen. How God chooses to allow this to play out is his decision. He does not make mistakes. You may interpret it that way but who are you? He already told us much about what was in the past, here in the now and what is to come in the future. Pretty accurately I might add. His workmanship is all over everything. Some see it and others refuse to see it.
By the way, it's more than just one book.

There is actually a growing pile of evidence that says the Bible is true. Take the Flood, for example. Every single culture from the Chinese to the Native Americans have a flood story where God (or their supreme diety) destroyed all mankind with a flood and left one man and his family. And all these flood stories take place at the same general point in history. As for the argument that the Chinese and Egyptians were in the middle of their dynasties during the flood, that's not true. Neither the Chinese or Egyptian dynasties are noted for acurate representations of time and history. Their ancients bent history to fit their agendas. (Don't believe me? Do the research.) The amount of archeology that supports the Bible is growing daily.
God does not expect you to believe in Him just because the Bible says to. He wants you to make an inteligent decision whether or not you believe in Him. If you're looking for Him, you will find all sorts of clues to His existance. Was the car stopping before it hit you good brakes or divine intervention? Was the butterfly landing on your shoulder and making you smile when you felt blue a coincidence or a kiss from heaven? Is that voice in your head that tells you the right thing to do your conscience, the Holy Spirit, or schitzophrenia? You have to answer those things for yourself. Take a look at the world around you. How does the bumblebee fly when physics says it cannot? Why do some bacteria have outboard motors? Why does the woodpecker's tonuge wrap entirely around it's brain? Chance? Or created that way?
Yes, God is a perfect/omnipotent being. The reason there is evil in this world is because He created a bunch of imperfect/ignorant beings who have the freedom of choice. Did He make a mistake in doing so? No. If He wanted perfect beings, He would have created robots. Instead, He created humans. He loves us so much that He wants us to choose to love Him back. He doesn't force us to love Him; that's not true love. He doesn't force us to believe in Him; that's not faith. Yes, He will reveal Himself to everyone eventually, but for now, we're supposed to trust that He's real and that what He says in the Bible is true. We all have the choice to accept or reject Him.
Lucifer had that choice, too. Lucifer chose to try and be God instead of trust God. As a result, we have evil in the world today. Humans who reject God perpetuate that evil. Yes, God knew it would happen. No, He didn't stop it. He didn't stop it because He loves us and wants us to make our own intelligent decisions. He's there to help us make those decisions, but He won't force us because He loves us. Does that make Him imperfect? Quite the opposite. His perfect wisdom knows that when you force someone to do something, they actually want to do the exact opposite. If they do what you force them to, it's not genuine. Take sex as an example. Between two consenting individuals, it's a beautiful thing. When one forces it on the other, it's rape. God will not rape us by forcing us to believe or to love or to do what He wants. He loves us too much.
Actually, I'm glad that you are skeptical and untrusting. You are searching for the truth, and that's the important part. It's out there. Keep looking and you will find it.

He allows created beings to choose wrong because if they couldn't choose wrong, they couldn't choose right either. And if we couldn't choose, we'd just be preprogrammed robots; would you really rather live with no choices whatsoever, every day of your life? That's not living- that's just existing. God created us because he wanted someone to share his love with. But love is not love unless it is freely given. He freely gives his love to us; we must choose to give ours to him. I don't see how it's a mistake for God to give us free will. In the USA we all have the right to free speech; some people abuse that right, but the government (if it continues to abide by the Constitution) won't take it away just because it isn't always used as it was meant to be.
God doesn't expect us to believe in him. He gives us all the proof we really need; it's up to us to see it or not see it. It's not just one book. It's the fact that good is a choice you can make. It's all the great things that happen around the world every day. It's the incredible beauty you find in nature and in other people. It's the detail you find in the way the world works- everything has a specific structure, from wind patterns to the internal structures of an ant. If you don't take all that as proof of God's existence, nothing really could convince you. If you heard a voice from heaven and you didn't already believe in God, would you honestly believe it was God just because that was who you were told it was? If you'd been around in Jesus's time and he told you he was the Son of God, when you didn't believe in God to begin with, would you think he was the Savior or a crackhead? If you've got faith, what proof you have is all you need. If you don't, no proof will ever suffice.

thats where the ' faith ' come in . writer's of the book thousands of years ago doesnt expect that .
so now when modern christians know about that , they just tell you faith is the reason why you don't believe it =P
i find it rather hard to believe it totally , no doubt jesus is a good teacher though.
to believe noah flood is global is crap ( noah and family only survivor of mankind ? )
why ? chinese civilisation - shang dynasty has no interruption . eygptians are at their 3rd dynasty during the flood.
seriously they don't bother to look beyond their bible , but just whether does the ship exist or not. ship exist merely prove there's a ship , and doesnt prove to be global flood.
chinese mythology have such flood too , jew / muslim also believe in the flood.
so thus , there is no evidence that just prove that only the biblical god exist.
and yes they will boo me later

First question, we believe by faith. Just because we have the Bible does not mean that we believe just because of it. Second question, He did not let Lucifer fall from the Heavens, that was Lucifer's choice. Our God does not impose His will on us. He gives us free will to either believe and be saved or to disbelieve and not be. He is a Loving, Merciful, Bountiful God. Some are willing to except His bounty, others just choose to post questions trying to belittle His existence. God bless.

There is more than 1 book that says He is and that Christ is his Son.
Free will does not imply God made a mistake, it implies that the wrong choice was made.
You want logic? Is it not better for you dog to want to obey your commands because he wants to and not because he has to? Ask any trainer. When you work for something doesn't it make it of more value than if it was just handed to you. There is an opposite for everything. If we did not see evil, sorrow, pain, suffering, how could we cherish the good, joy, pleasure, health? God gave us free will so we can choose to return to Him just as any parent wants there child to return home. Ask any parent of a child over seas.

God created free will.
Lucifer, as a created being, chose to oppose God.
God knew it would happen...
This is always the risk when free will is involved.
God doesn't expect us to believe in Him, this is a choice... our free will.
It's a simple choice really, to believe or not to believe in God.
God doesn't require blind faith, the universe is evidence of that...
but if you push the possibility of God existing from your mind, then you have chosen to reject God.
This is the logic behind it... it may not be your logic... or even a satisfying answer... but it is the truth.
Peace be unto you

It's awesome...I had a overwhelming feeling to be a better person. I changed so many things in my life. I wanted to know everything about Christianity, and about Jesus Christ. I could not get enough of reading the Bible. I read different versions and asked questions. It is a great feeling, to have the Holy Spirit in you, You love everyone, and you cry, alot! And you feel sorry for the people, who just don't get it!!!!
