No this does my nut in!!

If they have no customers talk about what you like......

I've been at checkout in Asda before whilst the girls on the checkout next to each other have had a conversation!

She was scanning my stuff, manhandling my bread whilst talking to another girl, I eventually gave her back the bread and told her to go get another one that she hadn't dug her dirty little fingers into, oh and to stop chatting and get on with serving me!

Didn't go down well but when i go into a supermarket i just want a robot like person to scan my stuff and not talk to me or anyone else!!

Harsh I know but I'm grumpy today!

It's very unprofessional. Basically they are socializing on the job when they're supposed to put their attention to the customers first. I can't stand it when I'm at the grocery store and the cashier and bagger are griping about their schedules and what the boss said, etc. I don't want to hear about their problems. It's not the time or place for that! I also don't like it when I'm being rung up and two employees behind the counter keep talking the whole time, as if they can't stop for a moment to complete the sale correctly for me. It's like I'm intruding on their time.

Like what? Anything inappropriate that shouldn't be discussed, well shouldn't be discussed anywhere.

But if it's just normal chat chat, why not? I work at Penney's part time on the weekends with a group that cleans up the store (after pain in the @ss customers have decided to act like pigs and destroy it all day) and we talk about whatever we want to. I mean geeze, the stuff we hear (and laugh at) the customers talking about sometimes! And listening to their screaming children all evening...think we kind of deserve to be able to talk amongst ourselves to get through the evening.

It is pretty inconsiderate, especially if they get so caught up in conversation that they pay no attention to you, the customer. I have had cashiers actually stop doing the ringing up to go over to talk to the person they are having the conversation with to whisper something to them that they don't want the rest of the line to hear. When you are in a hurry or just want to do your shopping and go on to other things, it is very annoying to have to waste time with something that has nothing to do with their job. Inconsiderate, unprofessional and just not something I am happy to deal with.

NO!!!! Ugh absolutely not that's horrible. What if there was kids walking by? If there boss heard them saying this stuff (unless there boss was an idiot) they'd be kicked out the door. Besides if people have a realationship and they work together they aren't aloud to talk about it while working! especially in public.

If your just talking about normal things (not sexual which is kinda what you implied) then that's probably not what they are supposed to be doing but it's not that big of deal.

I hope this helps!:)

In my opinion, it is unacceptable. Especially if I'm being "helped." I don't want to hear about what the employees are going to be doing. I think they need to get customer service training and understand that when they are on company time it should be productive.

It's about the same as when a customer is talking on their cell phone and asking for help at the same time.

Just leave the things you were going to purchase on the counter and walk out.

Who cares. You do realize that they are people too don't you? As long as it was not real loud or inappropriate in content.
