Really depends on personal preference. Depending on the room size the smaller 2' x 2' will make the room seem larger. The 2' x 4' will make the room appear to be smaller. The cross tees that are used can be removed if you use the smaller ones, in case you ever need to get into the ceiling to work on electric, plumbing, etc.

i could propose the two the a million.5" - 3" foam for the partitions and floor. Do the main you are able to wreck out with. You screw the plywood to the floor with concrete screws/washers with the froth below. All joints of the froth are taped. then you fairly can go over this with carpet. or you are able to decide for the dearer dricore plywood yet with out the insulation. The partitions will merely have foam cut back to go in the back of the studs or between them. The ceiling of the basement will use non-confronted insulation yet insulation won't be mandatory on the ceiling.

I perfer the 2 by 2. You can get recessed panels in this system, and the looks are much better to the eye. basically you have more options on the type of panel when you go with the 2 by 2 system

Less cross bracing. There are a lot of 2x4 light fixtures with fluorescent bulbs that will fit in too.

I have 2x4 in mine and it always seems that they want to bow. I am getting ready to redo mine as well and I am going with the 2x2.
