Peace and love to you too.
The problem I have with abortion is that it involves killing another life. To do so for convenience is unquestionably "a sin". However, is it not also a sin to assume that one life is more valuable than another? Perhaps it is less repugnant to kill a baby to save the life of the mother but is it not still killing? Personally, I think that only God has the right to judge the value of a human life and that anytime man takes this decision out of God's hands, he sins.
The other exception people sometimes debate is when the woman becomes pregnant as the result of a crime...when her choice is taken away from her by another person. Again I would suggest that if you truly believe God creates life then you should accept that the life in you is valuable and important to him. To take end this life by your own hand is to go against his plan...again, it is elevating your importance above that of another life he created.
Claiming that 9/11 is a punishment from God makes the same vital error...the World Trade Centers didn't collaspe as a result of God...he didn't strike them down with lightning or cause an earthquake to swallow them up. Instead, 9/11 is a result of man superceding God's right to punish sin! Vengance is mine says the Lord. I have no doubt that God will punish the United States (or more accurately, the citizens of the US) for taking abortion "extremely lightly"...but that is HIS job and he is far more qualified to mete out that punishment than any man.

The problem is with that question, is that there are a lot of different sects in Christianity, and not only will each sect give you a different answer, each individual will as well.
I believe that only if the baby or the mother cannot survive, should there be an abortion. But that is only my opinion.
As for 9/11, it is not God's punishment towards America (why would the innocents that died be involved, God is capable of only striking the wicked. Look at Sodom and Gomorrah). I believe that Satan was in the hearts of the hijackers, that they twisted Islam to justify what they were doing, and they are now being punished in hell for using God/Allah's name to hurt others. No matter what religion you follow HIM through, God does not condone such acts.
May God bless you and all of us.

There are only two medical conditions where killing of an unborn child is indicated medically. The first is ectopic pregnancy. In such a case, the baby has zero expectancy of survival anyway, and the mother will likely die also if the fetus is not removed. No-one, including the Catholic Church, has any reservations about doing such required surgery. It is not a moral issue.
The other condition is uterine cancer. In such cases the mother's chances of recovery are best if a hysterectomy is done immediately. If a woman chooses that course of action, no-one, including the Catholic Church, condemns that choice of action. This is not considered an intended abortion, but an unavoidable consequence of necessary medical care. Some mothers choose to delay their own surgery until after the baby is viable. Sometimes this choice has a happy ending for mother and child, while other times the mother pays the ultimate price for this act of love. But there is no moral dilemma. She is free to choose either course of action.
So, there are no obstacles to necessary medical treatment, even when such treatment will cause the death of the unborn child, when the mother's life is REALLY endangered. Legislation allowing abortion "when the mother's life is in danger" is therefore totally unnecessary. So why do pro-abortion forces push so hard for it? Because it is a giant loophole allowing abortion on demand. Any woman who wants an abortion only has to say "I am so depressed about this pregnancy I am having suicidal thoughts". Abracadabra! Her life is now "in danger".

There people you spoke with are misguided. Abortions are allowed by the bible, it says, can't recall where, but if the mother is in danger of loosing her life, then the pregnancy can be aborted.
regarding, 9/11, i highly doubt God would want hundreds of people to die with out knowing him because a country take abortions lightly.

Hi,
I hate to refer you to a lengthy external website. But this is such a complex issue it would be nearly impossible to give a coherent response in 1 or 2 paragraphs. I would ask you (and, frankly, anyone looking at this) to read this:
http://lifewatch.org/abortion.html
It's quite long, it's the transcript of a speech from a Methodist assembly. But it illustrates just how impossible it is to take a truly Christian stand on abortion that falls in line with the political dichotomies of "pro-life" or "pro-choice". There really are many sides to this issue, and frankly, focusing on one side or the other only leads to hate and intolerance.
Peace to you.

1] I'm Christian [Catholic to be more precise, but Christian nonetheless] and I can ONLY justify an abortion under the circumstance that the life of the mother is endangered. However, this reason is less than one percent of total abortions carried out.
2] It would be a terrible mistake to believe that 9/11 is a punishment from God or that God turned His back on us that day. Our God is a loving, compassionate God who would NEVER use that to "teach us a lesson."

It is murder. Those with medical conditions, simply put, should not get pregnant. To many women just use it as a form of birth control. They sleep around, get pregnant, then just get an abortion to solve their problem. I am not saying the men are not just as guilty, because if they were not sleeping around also the women would not be pregnant. As for 9/11, I believe that our nation was just under attack and the people did not deserve what happened. I do not believe it was punishment from God. It sounds to me, if what you say is accurate, some people are just trying to cause fear to get people to change their ways.

My view of abortion is that it does not please God, but it also does not please God to have a mother die needlessly due to child birth. We must remember that God is the Father and is life, and a human decision does not impact God or His spiritual creation. If you break a bone and need to get it set, you see a doctor who can do this work. You don't say, I will see what happens of or by its own seeming volition. In the same manner a mother at risk should take steps to avoid a needless death.
As far as 9/11, we must also remember that God does not send evil to His image and likeness. So those who say they got what they deserved are missing something in their perception of the matter and of what true substance is in God's creation.

Abortion is murder and should be done away with. The Supreme Court said that Partial Birth Abortion is illegal, the abortionists are now injecting babies in the womb with poison, killing them and then removing them. They play too many games to leave any openings.
As far as 9-11: America opened the hedge of protection by abortion and other government approved sin. God is not the one that killed.
(John 10:10 KJV) The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Satan is the one that kills, but sin opens the door so that God's protection is removed.

Salaam,
I'm Muslim and I support a woman's right to have an abortion. I simply do not understand why many American Christians are so obsessed with abortion. I dont get it--especially since many of those same Christians do not create or support social programs & welfare services that will feed and house poor children whose poor mothers decided not to abort them. And I dont see every anti-choice Christian living with a houseful of foster kids whose drug addicted & poor parents decided not to abort them--why is that?
Even if abortion is a "sin" in their eyes, it amazes me how those same Christians will have sex before marriage, live together before marriage, cheat on their spouses, engage in homosexuality (many Christian preachers are secretly gay) and they'll commit every other sin under the sun; yet they want to force a 11 year old girl who was raped by her father to give birth to a child abortion would be a "sin". Unless the fundamentalist Christians are willing to outlaw ALL the sins listed in the Bible--many that they themselves commit----they need to really become follow Jesus by rolling up their sleeves and helping the poor & downtrodden.
Salaams & good question.
