Here is an example of some room options...
Some specifically say no-smoking, but the others don't say anything...does that mean that it is a smoking room??

I want a smoking room, I can't just assume that it is smoking...that would suck!

You're better off contacting the hotel desk directly to ask about this. Some hotels do not designate the rooms with placards. If you want a smoking room but don't specify as such when you check in or make the reservations you could end up with a non smoking room and not even be aware of it. If you smoke in a non smoking room and get caught they can (and often do) fine you. I've stayed at some hotels and reserved non smoking rooms but they still smell like smoke.

I won't use Priceline for this exact reason. There is no smoking/smoking option. We once were put in a smoking room, that was so disgusting we had to leave the door open...in 35 degree weather. It was a holiday weekend, and there were no other rooms in town, so we were stuck. If you can't choose, it isn't an option. All reputable hotel websites give you a choice. Priceline should consider doing the same!

I would check the hotel's website to see if they offer smoking rooms prior to booking. Some hotels such as Marriott properties are only non smoking.

It doesn't have to say non-smoking for it to be non-smoking, some states like ohio have laws that say that every indoor area besides like your house or other private property is a non-smoking area

It must _say_ non-smoking to be a non-smoking room. If it says nothing, smoking is (has been) permitted.

Hope that helps!
