Snapper is a deep water fish. Use a heavy enough sinker to keep your line straight up and down. I try to use a double leader when going for snapper's, lots of times I've hooked them two at a time that way.

No need. The snapper popper is heavy enough. You just need to flick your wrist once in a while to cause a splash in the water. That attracts snappers.

A sinker, you need to get the lure down where the fish are.

There are a lot off the North Carolina coast, but the restrictions on catching and keeping are getting tougher all the time...They are considered over fished, and many year groups are missing or declining....The "Stacy IV" and the "Carolina Princess" out of Atlantic Beach still catch a few, but nothing like it used to be.....

What kind of lure is it and what kind of snapper you after reds or something like mangroves?
