You're right about the fact that the calendar we use today is not the same calendar in use in Roman times. But that's not the main problem. The main problem is that there is no way of knowing exactly what day Jesus was born on. The Bible doesn't specify a date. December 25 was chosen in late Roman times because of various factors, including the fact that it coincided with a major pagan festival. Supposedly the Christians thought this would make it easier for them to celebrate their festival, and not be noticed by the authorities.
But there's more to it than that: Even the year is uncertain. Our current system, in which we count from the year 1 A.D. (anno domini), was devised in the middle ages by a monk who seems to have gotten it wrong. All indications are that Jesus was probably born around 4 B.C. or maybe a little later.

Jesus was actually born after the Julian (12 month) calendar was implemented. But, It still wasn't accurate and had to be corrected regularly. Then the Gregorian Calendar was implemented 1500 years later. So that changed things.
The U.S. also skipped a week or so a few hundred years ago, so even George Washington's birthday isn't celebrated on the correct day!
I've linked below, but I've also read this info in several books that seemed to be well researched.
==========
Then there's the realization that if you take the Bible even as a semi-reliable source, then you'll have to conclude that Jesus wasn't born anywhere near December 25 (winter solstice).

Top of the class, this is in fact correct. First, he was born about mid-year, as the shepherds were tending their flocks, and in winter, they would be stored warm. Also, the AD calender started more like when Jesus was like 3 or something. You need to understand, that just cause 2 months were missing, doesn't mean they didn't have the same number of days in them. Like, take those two out, and add 61/10, so like 6 days to each month, this misses a day, and all they'd need to do is tack it onto one of the moths.

There is no scriptural support for Christ's birth in December. You are right about the ancient Roman Calendar was not very good. The Hebrew calendar was more accurate but I there is still some controversy as to the year of birth.

Actually, Jesus was born in June -- the birth is celebrated in December because the early Christians used that to replace the pagan holidays already in exisitance (same with Easter).

........... what? I can't understand a word you just said. There are no periods, or capital letters or punctuation of any kind, and you're using internet shorthand instead of regular english. What in the world did you just say? When you retype it in a way than can be read, I'll be more than happy to answer but right now, I have no idea what you said.
Does it matter when a minor prophet was born?

Christ was actually born in the spring time, because that's when the shepherds would take their sheep out to the fields, according to scholars. They believe it was around April - June in 1 AD. My personal belief is April 6th, 1 AD (according to modern day revelations to prophets).
