I am looking to redo our master bedroom, I would like to use a monochromatic color scheme. I am leaning towards a more contemporary look, however my furniture is strictly tradtional(four poster bed) brass hardware. Can I still utilize the look without having to replace the furniture?

Absolutely. Using the right color of paint, contemporary bedding ensemble, lighting fixtures & artwork with the traditional furnishings will give it a whimsical, fantasy feel.

Not sure what color you're leaning toward or what color your furniture is, but a gray or a brown will probably give you the sleek look you want, like in this makeover:

OOh, this will be FUN! Get yourself some funky new hardware for your dressers, and some paint for your furniture. (You will have to follow instructions for painting already finished furniture.) I'd suggest either a color obviously darker or obviously lighter than the walls.
You could install some poles between the posters and hang some mesh around them.
It's amazing what a rug can do, too. If everything turns out monotone, you really can pick out a fun rug. We got a sweet one at Lowes.
Also, think about the placement of the furniture. Try out angles, as opposed to pushing everything up against a wall.
Have fun!! This sounds like a great project!! :)

Sure you can, I had a king size 4 poster and did mine in an Asian theme and it was beautiful.
