Anyone can say that they are a Christian. There is no way for any of us to truly know whether or not they are. So, Christianity is not the criteria I look for in a candidate. I would just vote for someone who I know represents what I believe a good President is. If the candidate's view aligns with mine then that is the candidate for me.

No. Depends on the man. We aren't looking for preachers in DC we already have plenty at home.
I'd like to see all the lawyers go home and some business majors up there. We already have way too many laws. You talk about a book that contradicts itself.
Our economy is in deep trouble and I don't see any of the candidates showing signs of getting it straight. All lawyers of course.

I am a Christian, and the only way I vote for a "Christian Candidate" is if they vow to get the Church & State seperate once and for all.
Neither has any business in the others business....

If you vote based on the candidates religion, whether for or against, then you are a cheddarneck and should be slapped. That is absolutely no different than voting because you like or dislike a persons favorite cheesecake recipe. (Yes, I just compared cheesecake to religion. I know there is no comparison, cheesecake is actually way, way better for you than religion)

I don't vote anymore, but religion was not a major factor. I hate politics anymore. Even when a good person is elected, his or her hands are tied by all the deep pockets in government. I would rather not have anything to do with it at all. Elect a bad person, and it would probably be more like business as usual. Elect a good person, and they'll be corrupted eventually. Why would I want that to happen to a good person?

Are any of us going to have another choice anytime soon? It was not even 50 years ago when people were freaking out over JFK being a Catholic. I say getting an atheist or Hindu or Buddhist candidate is far off.

Nope, I'm from Australia, so it's not a President here it's a Prime Minister, but, i would personally vote, over here that is, is:
Christian Democrat, Family First(sorta Christian), Liberal(most views supported by Christians), other minor parties, Labor(because of their ties to the Greens), Greens last (if they got into power society would collapse)

It's a shame there is no corollary for atheists - there is no way we can only vote for an atheist candidate - in the God fearing US of A, admitting that you do not believe in God is tantamount to political suicide and would ensure a quick exit from the race.
In a country where the separation of church and state was the aim of the founding fathers (whom conservatives do not hesitate to quote ad nauseam) it is a real shame that these candidates are forced to make themselves look short sighted and foolish by professing a belief in a non-existent supernatural being.

yes, our nation was founded on christianity, and thats the way it should stay. i don't want some body else in office who disrespects the christian way, and starts trying to take our rights away. i truly believe that they are the only capable candidates. sorry if that pisses anyone off, but thats the way i feel.
