The ark was considered a coffin. It's content; the Ten Commandments; Considered to be the basis of the convenient between God and His people Israel, golden pot of Manna; the ark of the Testimony; which God miraculously preserved as a testimony to future generations, and the third item was Aaron's Rod; that budded to prove that Aaron was God's chosen.

I would hope if the Ark was recovered and made public, that this would only be another item that science could not disregard as proving that God does exists. Since the beginning of time God has always been tried to be disproved by man. They have not been successful and will not succeed. When the time is here every knee shall bow and know He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I would love to be able to wittiness seeing the Ark of the Covenant and see how others react to another sign of God's existence.

Well, I always ask this every time someone tries to demonstrate their "brilliance" with sarcastic questions about Noah. I think I'd be seeing less of those questions.

Second, I do believe it would lead to some really fantastic counter theories as to how the boat got up on the mountain. ("earthquakes can cause mountains to shift and seem to grow, so why should we be surprised to find something that once was at the bottom of the sea, end up on the top of the mountain" - which is the same dribble used to explain all the sea shells found at extreme heights)

Third, and more seriously, why is it there have been satellite photos of an anomoly on the side of the mountain, but no further satellite passes have been made? Oh...it wouldn't matter as satellite photo imagry hasn't improved over the last 2 decades? And why is it the Turkish government still won't let any archeology teams make any efforts to explore the mountain?

I would wonder if it was really THE ark, and not a modern forgery made by fake antiquities dealers (like the James Ossuary), a mis-identified ancient object, or an ancient copy by an unorthodox Jewish sect.

Assuming it was the real ark, i would then be curious to see how people treat it, and how God reacts to the way people treat it, seeing as when the Philistines captured it he dealt with them in such a way that they came to see that Israel's God rules, and when some curious Israelites opened it, he struck them dead.

I expect people will react to it in different ways. Atheists will try to prove that it is a fake. Agnostic scientists will want to study and analyse it.

Some religious people will want to treat it as a cult object. The extremists amongst them might want to knock down Al Aqsa mosque to rebuild the Jewish temple, thus sparking of another war between Israel and Muslims, possibly with America drawn in, and the risk of another war in which nuclear weapons are used -- so maybe it is best if it is not found.

The ark of the covenant is an article of faith that Moses used when he led the Children of Israel and was in Israel up to King David's time.

It would be important but mean nothing to me. It can't mean anything to me because men use ancient artifacts and worship it rather than the creator. They acknowledge the creation more than the creator which I think atheistic scientist do as well but that is another topic.

That it was the last days and a window to Heaven had been opened.

Revelation 11:19 Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.

If it was found on earth then I would think that it was a fake.

OMG! Don't look at it! DON'T LOOK AT IT!

Actually, I would be very interested in seeing pictures, reading about the archeology involved. It would prove that the ancient Hebrews existed--but did we ever really doubt that? It wouldn't prove much else, would it? The remains of the 2nd Temple are known, the Temple where Jesus tipped over the table and got arrested. That's just as interesting, don't you think?

Let me ask -you- something. If they found the Ark, do you think it would kill people with bolts of fire, like it did in the Indiana Jones movie? Or would it just be a very interesting box, covered with a layer of gold, perhaps with some scrolls or something inside?

I think it would be very cool and it would just prove that the Jews did have an arch. Unless it had magical powers as it says in the bible (no man can touch it if so they would die) then it would just be a really neat find. If it still had it's powers I say we take it before us and march into the middle east and lay claim to all the territory :)

The ark is not lost, it has never been lost. It is with the people to whom it belongs, and when it is time it will be brought out once again - when the 3rd Temple is built and the true Messiah comes.

Nothing. Given the nature of human beings people would spend the next 1000 years debating it's authenticity.

It wouldn't change a thing for me except more proof.

I think God in His omniscience has left these things hidden from us so we don't idolize them. Think of what all the wacky religions would do with a piece of manna or a piece of Moses' staff.
