Are you even supposed to tip? I remember before I started driving, I'd go with some relatives to pick up their cars or something and they would always tip.. but the other day I tried to tip and they didn't accept and told me I don't need to tip people who work on your car. Is that true? If not, then how much am I supposed to tip??

Tipping is an individual choice. It's usually done as a reward for extra special service, e.g., a very courteous waitress, a hairdresser who squeezes you in, etc. I don't tip at auto shops; however, if they gave you very good service and you think they should be rewarded for it, by all means, tip the people who actually worked on your vehicle. How much is entirely up to you but around 15% is the normal tipping rate.

None. If your auto shop did a good job on your car, thank them and spread the word. That would be the greatest tip you can tip them.

Usually you do not tip at a large auto shop.

However, if it is the small neighborhood garage and they did something special for you, such as rushed a repair on your car so you could get to a wedding, then it would be appropriate to tip $10-20 for the special consideration they gave you.

I've never heard of tipping them. They charge about $60 an hour or more. Maybe at a car wash, a few dollars.

HI you already tipped him... the brakes them self certainly simplest price him among $forty. and $50..... If he did all four brakes (entrance & again). If your brakes had been making noise he did you no desire by way of now not turning the rotors...In reality he could have made them lower than par in the event that they had been making noise by way of now not turning or changing the rotors because the brakes might now not have complete touch with the rotor because the rotor could have been broken by way of the unhealthy brakes... I've on no account heard of a shim package...... well good fortune tim

I have never tipped a mechanic, nor have I heard of anyone that did. If you think you got good service then you should refer other people to them.
