I found an injured dragonfly outside (can't fly; although it seems to be moving all of its wings.) Is there any way to do anything for it? Or will it probably just die eventually no matter what [what is their lifespan?]

I doubt there's anything you can do for it. I think their life span is 4 to 6 weeks.

When I was little, I found an enormous injured dragonfly that couldn't fly. It was so regal! It did die that afternoon, and I cried and cried. I don't think you can do anything for a dragonfly but leave it outside and at least let a bird get a meal. Sorry. It might be at the end of its lifespan anyhow.

Wow, what a nice person you are! We need more peple with that kind of mindset!

Unfortunatly there is not much you can do for it if it dosn't recover by itself. You can put it very gently in a safe place in the garden where it wont be eaten and leave some water and some food there maybe.

The life span ranges from about 6 months to over 7 years (most of it is spent in the nymph stage - the adult lives for only a few weeks). Contrary to the popular belief that they only live a day.

Good luck!

Dragonflies spend three years under water as larvae or nymphs. Then they emerge as fully fledged dragonflies, when for a few days they mate and the females lay eggs. They have then done their job and they die. Yours has fulfilled its life so just let it rest in peace.

actually a dragon flies lifespan is about 24 hours. so there's nothing you can do for it. It's a shame for them to have a limited amount of time to live.
