who dont have a choice but to believe what they were taught to hell if they are wrong? They are raised to learn a certain religion, never heard another, never had the choice. why would God do that? that person is innocent, but is going to hell because they were taught wrong. look at all the kids who are taught to be terrorists. from a very young age they are in school learning how to kill others who dont believe as they do and, believe with all theier hearts they are doing what God wants of them. BUT, they are going to hell, that just seems so wrong to me.

not taught wrong ... but taught differently
you know there are many Christians who although they know of other beliefs , just dont understand anything but the truth they were raised with
this is so of others babe
they cant understand why anyone would see their beliefs as anything but true

this is why I do not believe in Hell , especially not for non Christians who simply believe differently ... and often with all their heart and soul

What makes you think that people don't have a choice but to believe what they were taught? If that were so, where did all the atheists come from, most of whom were taught one religion or another? As for children, I don't know what the age of accountability is, or even if it's the same for everyone, but sooner or later, everyone has to start taking responsibility for the moral choices they make (or don't make, as the case may be).

What continues to surprise me Cindy is how seldom you see the reverse. There are Muslims asking the same thing about people like you. The truth is most people in any religion are brainwashed. You only believe what you were taught. It's a big problem in the world. If everyone could just believe in humanity more and less in some deity maybe we could make the world a better place.

Let's get this clear...God does not send anyone to Hell. People send themselves who choose to believe in other Gods or no God.....God made the Earth....he is worthy of the praise and Glory..

Yes, anyone can be saved if they turn thier hearts to Jesus Christ...even the worst of us. Children do not go to Hell. They must be of an age to accept or reject the Gospel message.

Those children who are being taught terror will one day feel the drawing of the real God. If they don't reject him, they will be saved....God is merciful, but he can't make people serve him...if he did, we would not have free will....everyone will be given a choice. God is fair

This is one of the greatest faults in mainstream Christianity as we know it. The idea that judgment and therefore "hell" will come immediately following this life causes such situations as this.

This is one of the greatest reasons that I don't believe that the afterlife comes immediately following death. I believe that after this life is a time between death and the resurrection, in which any person, even those who were disabled or had no knowledge of the Gospel would have the opportunity to repent and to follow Christ.

This brings the question of those who lived immediately before the resurrection and judgment. I also believe that there will be a literal millenium, one thousand years in which Christ will reign in both political and spiritual power, and those who have not accepted him will have the opportunity to do so.

But I can just speak for myself.
Hope that helps.

I have struggled with this myself. I am a Christian but have thought about this alot. And I know this is not following strict Christianity but this is my beliefs on this:

God says that everyone gets the opportunity to receive Jesus as there God. Now I beleive that most people get at one point in there life a huge pulling to the true God. Now if they never get this huge pulling I beleive God would have pity on them. If they lived a morally decent life I beleive God would take the greatest pity on them because he is the all loving God.

...Now I know my feelings on the situation but it is really hard to write it out so I hope it is clear...

*Edit*

There are many religions out there that I do beleive go to Heaven even though there not Christians. Religions I can think of are Jews and Muslims. This is because they belive in the same God that Christians do. They just beleive that Jesus was a prophet. Yes there a little off [in my opinion] but I do not beleive God would send them to Hell. Especially because Jesus is a Jew!

As far as Catholics go (and I am a Catholic priest) we do not presume to know how God would judge the individual or community. That is in God's hands alone. We can judge as far as what is consistent with what He reveals as the way of life and fulfillment of His creatures. Is what a person does consistent with what God reveals? Yes or no? However, eternal condemnation of those who are inconsistent with God's will is in God's power alone and not ours.
Even in the Church we consider and have pity on those who were conditioned to live out their faith violently (e.g. The Crusaders, Inquisiton, Islamic terrorism, Zealot terrorism). We know and teach from experience that at times a person does not know better and God surely extends mercy on them. In the Catechism of the Catholic Church it states:

Paragraph 1790:
A human person must always obey the certain judgment of his conscience. If he were to dilberately act against it, he would condemn himself (act contrary to his nature).
Paragraph 1791:
Ignorance can be imputed to personal responsibility. This is the case when man "takes little trouble to find out what is true and good," or when conscience is by degrees almost blinded through the habit of committing sin." (in other words, committ a sin twice it seems a sin no more).
Paragraph 1793:
If --on the contrary-- the ignorance is invincible, or the moral subject is not responsible for his erroneous judgment, the evil committed by the person cannot be imputed to him (he is not fully accountable as those mentioned above). It remains no less an evil, a privation, a disorder (the act---Jihadist violence is evil, but those who committ it (e.g.) young children trained in seclusion are not fully responsible for the evil). One must therefore work to correct the errors of moral conscience.

And God in His righteous judgment extends His mercy to even them. I hope this has been helpful. May the Lord bless and keep you. May the light of His face shine upon you.

God's and your beast of burden

If you read the book of Matthew you will find that Jesus was sent to Earth to save God's peoples (the Israelites) and because these people are God's people then the rest of the world must be some other God's people's. Well this is what my sister believes.

I personally do not believe that God will send anyone to hell. Why create to torture? That idea just is as stupid as saying that God condones slavery.

If you have never heard the word of God, and had a chance to learn the Truth, you are not going to hell. You never had the choice to choose or deny God.

When someone asks a question such as this I think of a Christian, German concentration camp guard at Auschwitz in 1944. He has a loving family who he takes to church every Sunday without fail. On this day, he is leading a family of Jews to their deaths in the gas chamber. Here's where things get confusing for me. According to the bible, all the German guard must do is accept Jesus as his savior and the son of god and ask for forgiveness of this terrible sin of multiple murders of innocent victims, and he will dwell in heaven forever when he dies after living a long and fruitful life. The innocent Jewish family, however, because they don't believe just as the German does, after having their lives cut miserably short and not allowed to bring up children have, grandchildren and enjoy the other niceties of life like the German will enjoy, will burn in hell for eternity. That's just sick man.
