There are a variety of Syrah's and Pinot Noirs that are all very light and pleasing try Redwood Creek, Fish Eye and Trinchero for a start. If you are in California these run from 4.99 to 10.99 but don't let the low price fool you they are cheaper here because they are made here.

If you want something fruity and are not sure if you want red or white, try a blush from the US or a Rose, not sparkling from France.

They combine the fruitiness of a red and light smooth taste of a white wine, not to sweet but not a puckering taste like a red.
