Everytime I have to go somewhere, to meet someone, or go to school, I'm late. I never manage to get someplace at the time I set for myself. It takes me 40 minutes to get where I need to go by public transport, but even when I plan ahead, I'm always 10 minutes late minimum.
What are your tips and tricks for being on-time?

Start timing yourself. Next time you go somewhere, look at the clock. Once you arrive, note the time again. That's how long it's going to take you. Don't leave 30 minutes before you're due to arrive if it takes you 45 minutes. My wife has the same problem and it took her a long time to understand that she just doesn't allot herself enough time. Now I help her by making sure she starts early enough and doesn't get distracted by other issues.

Once you know how long it will take to get to the doctor's, work, wherever, you'll know when you need to start preparing. Also, figure you're going to miss the last possible bus/train to get you somewhere on time. Plan on catching the one that leaves before that one. This way, you're able to catch the one that will get you there on time.

Always set your time to be there 30 minutes ahead of the set time. If your class is at 9am, drill into your head...your class is at 8:30am. Do not allow the thought..."but it's really at...". When you arrive there early, use that time for yourself..to relax, have a snack, study..what ever....Do this consistantly and it will become habit very soon.

Leave earlier! If you think the trip will take 40 minutes, allow an hour. The worst thing that will happen is you get there a bit early!

You need to take in consideration that there may be road construction, a car accident or even utility work going on. Rule of thumb add about 30 minutes to your travel time to ensure your timeliness.

I think if you set all of your clocks 10 minutes ahead then you should be able to get ready and make it somewhere on time, that's what I do.
