I am trying to create a wedding map with directions from the Ceremony to the Reception. I've done extensive research on the internet and have not really found anything that can help me. And I'm not paying $200+ to order them already made! : )

Thanks!

theknot.com has an entire page that will give you step by step directions for a DIY map on your computer. I did mine this way, and it turned out great! If you can use MS Word or MS PowerPoint, you'll be able to do this. Here's the link :

I'm assuming you think the mapquest maps are ugly and don't want to use those?

Anywhoo, get the mapquest map of what you want. Zoom in on it so the area you need to concentrate on is in the window. Then print off that page.

Next, go to the craft store and get some tracing paper (in the fine are supply aisle). Lay it over your printed off map and trace major streets, HWY markers, etc.

Flip it over and use a #2 or softer pencil to trace your drawing again onto regular paper. Color and decorate with markers, pencils, add clip art, whatever you want.

Then, take your finished drawing and scan it. Flip the file/rotate 180 degrees. Save the file and insert into whatever program you are using to make the programs/invites.

You can also do this using layers in a program like Photoshop or Illustrator but that requires ownership of the program which can be expensive, and much more complicated instructions.

go to map quest. Enter the driving directions you want then Copy and paste the map into MS word and write up your own directions underneath. Then you can also choose what size you want it to be. Quick and easy.

Get a graphic designer friend who will do it for you for free. Give them the two addresses. Have them map quest it then draw a basic version with only the main streets and freeways. Bring it to a local print shop to have them print it on a heavier paper or buy heavier paper and print it yourself, bring it to a local print shop and have them cut to size.

Why not use mapquest or yahoo maps, just print it out and be done.

Good luck!
