we talk about evolution... the fact is we are in the middle of one right now... a human evolution.. we are pushed into thinking limited about it..like evolution is only physical in nature but the truth is we have just evolved intellectually and next is spiritually... the Christians missed the boat on the first one... intellectually we understand that the religions that are on the earth are unhealthy for it... we have become more peaceful with each other ex races... yet less accepting of religion.... we are spiritual people... that is a fact.. and religion amounts to spiritual abuse and we are ready to get their counter productive laws and rules out of our society... I hear you all have a heaven waiting for you... we sure won't miss you when you get to your imaginary life.... so please hurry.

Have you ever actually read an honest history of religion. I mean it, honest. The slaughtering of the Heretics, St Cyril order Hypatia to be skinned alive. The burning of all the libraries. The determinened destruction of all knowledge except for bible truth. The crusades including canibalism, the slaughter of the Jews, and the sacking of the Christian city of Coinstantinoplr (3 times) the inquisition, the thirty years war. The hanging of heretics and witches by Puritan Massechusetts. The Nazis.
All part of the Christian actions to spread their good news.
If religion ever gets to be a world power again or control a world power I think we are all dead. That humanity might as well lay down and join the rest of the failed species in the fossil record.

Mostly because it is forced on us by most other religions. Many christians are focused on forcing everyone to be like them and not accepting any difference of opinion. I am not saying that ALL people of any faith are like this, but many are. This is where the saying 'Dear god, please save me from your followers' comes from. I don't want to be 'saved'. I want to be allowed to live my life, with my beliefs, in peace. Just because I don't need the threat of an almighty hand coming down to make me behave does not mean that I don't lead a perfectly good, respectable life. Also, being an atheist doesn't mean that you can't speak your opinions about religion. Just like you can speak your opinions about atheists.

Maybe it's not the religion but the religious or maybe because they want to spread what they've learned to others or maybe they're still searching for what they really believe or maybe to resolve old conflicts. Remember, many atheists come from a religious background of some kind.

I am a pagan and a Taoist and an atheist. Don't forget that spirituality does not equal religion. And not all spiritual philosophies involve a deity. Think outside the box.
Aside from that, I actually am interested in the things Christians in particular say to try to convert people, because I have children and I fully expect Christian children to say these things to them when they find out my kids aren't Christian (it happened to me when I was younger, and oddly enough still happens).
So, I want to have thought about the Christian point of view and their arguments, so I can give a well-thought-out response to my children. I want to be able to clearly articulate what I think, because my ability to answer their questions may be important in my having credibility with my own children.
So I've been in forums like this for years now, and I'm really glad I did. Not only has it driven me further from Christianity than I ever thought I could be, but I think I can explain my views very well to my children, when they ask. I'm even keeping file of FAQ's.

An atheist, by definition, is a person who does not believe in a god, goddess, God, or any such deity. This is not the same as not having spiritualism. You can very well have your own set of beliefs and spirituality outside of a given set of rules by any given religion.

I think atheists frequent the R+S section because they truly believe they are educating and freeing people from the tyranny of religious oppression.
Yet, just as AA and the 12 step program (which unofficially has a success rate of less than 8%) continues to promote itself as the ONLY way to sobriety, these atheist continue to harang the religous even though they have really not influenced anything.
The most encouraging thing about the fact that ther are so many atheists here, and that their numbers worldwide are growing, is that the Bible foretold this, and here it is, right in front of us, just like the Bible said it would be.
I personally thank the atheists for doing their part in proving Bible prophecy reliable and accurate.
In addendum, I think that the fact that so many people who believe in God, are in fact promoting lies about him, helps to push forwards, the atheist agenda. Time and again, athiests sound off about how they 'used; to be religious, but by means of the contradictory nature of false religion, turned away (good for them).
Unfortunately, they turned away from all religion, based upon their limited experience with one or few religion(s).
But, out of that number, some, like me, will realize that atheism/evolution/(a)biogenesis, simply do not add up, and can not honestly account for the variety of life on this earth.
Of those, a few will turn back, and begin to examine religion with the skeptical eye that I did, and come to find, that there is truth. That there is an Almighty God, and that his personality, and his rules, actually do make sense. And, that all the perceived contradictions that drove them away, will disappear, by reason of the fact that the real truth is not mystical, and is easy for anyone to understand.
All they have to do, is realize that the reason for the apparent contradictions, was the result of false doctrines that were given to them by the wolves in sheep's clothes.
You know? Some of the atheist responses are right on target.
Christians, should leave the governments alone. y trying to align oneself with any human government is tantamount to saying that that government has a right to exist. If it really has the right to rule, then you are sayin that you have rejected God's Kingdom.
True Christians, should remain 100% neutral to what the government wants. Otherwise, they will be called into wars, to die for the government rather than dying for the lord Jesus.
Christians? You can not have it both ways. either you serve God, or you serve man.
The governments of the earth belong to man. If the atheists want to remove the 10 commandment from all governmetal buildings? Why should that upset you? After all, it is their system. To try and repair the governments is the same as what Jesus said about the Jewish system. You do not put new wine into old wineskins.
Besides, the only government of the future will be God's Kingdom, ruled by Jesus from the heavens.
I totally respect the atheists, the right to have their government, and am totally going to let them do whatever they want, as long as they do not attempt to restrict or legislate my freedom of speech.
If all Christians would stop trying to influence all governmental decisions, THEN, when it is all screwed up, which it is going to be, they can not point the finger at Christians and say it was by Christian interference that the world is collapsing.
Unfortunately, most of you Christians and Atheists, can not let it go. You both have unreasonable faith that the government is going to save you from what is coming upon the earth.
This too was prophesied.
OK, see ya.

No such thing.
Do you realize how much of culture is dominated by religion? Politics is crawling with religious people who have made it impossible for a socially liberal republican to get elected. They have infiltrated school boards all across the country in order to force the teaching of science and myth together. They want to take away a woman's right to decide what should happen to her own body, and they want to continue to oppress homosexuals.
I am interested in religion because religion is the root of a lot of things in society that I am against.

I could desire to omit the ambitious print yet: the two. you're bizarre AND priorities are somewhat off at the instant. i think of the two have continually been genuine however; issues does no longer be as thrilling or as humorous to me in the event that they weren't. :) The rights of the various against the rights of the few will in all probability continually be a seesaw and alter takes place slowly. you may blame faith for many stuff - as long as you provide it credit the place i think of that is due as nicely. i think of faith performed an significant place interior the adoption of governing theory, that 'all adult men have been created equivalent', or perhaps an earthly united states such by way of fact the USA has to paintings out what that truly means. Even whilst it throws stones at faith for the sins that is accountable of as nicely.

Personally, I had a horrible childhood because both of my parents were Pentecostal fundamentalists. One was a militant sadist who enjoyed inflicting pain as he beat me repeatedly to teach "proper respect" for paternalistic authority, both his and God's. The other was a full blown hallucinating schizophrenic who convinced herself she was going to burn in Hell because she couldn't stop herself from dreaming of having sex with Jesus Christ.
I was beaten up four times in high school because I'm an atheist. I've lost two really good corporate jobs because I'm an atheist. I'm completely alienated from my community because they're all Christian bigots and freely speak of burning down atheist's homes. (So far, they've all assumed I'm some kind of weak Christian.) I have very few friends and keep a loaded 12 gauge in my home because I'm surrounded by fundamentalist Christians who proudly proclaim themselves above mere civil law.
Looking at the big picture, religion has clearly caused humanity far more pain and suffering than it is worth. If humanity is ever going to achieve its potential, it must first discard the superstitions and bigotry of our ancient bronze age ancestors. Why do I care so much about religion? ...because it is evil incarnate and must be eliminated from human culture before a peaceful civilization is even remotely possible.
