I am a waitress, normally 15% is what we "expect" cause thats the "norm"
You still ordered, and recieved the food from a waitress, regardless of having to get your own refills. How ever you pay your bill shouldn't matter, most places give you a choice, pay up front or pay the waitress. Where I work, we get so busy sometimes we can't makke it back to your table when you are ready to pay, besides the cashier is right on your way out anyways

I'm a good tipper because I have worked in the food industry and I know what a good tip means to those people. When I go to a resturant or bar I always tip 20% but the place you are talking about sounds like a smaller operation so I would say anywhere from 10% to 15%.

Waiting tables is a grueling job. Servers put up with all sorts of rude, mean people. I tip 20% if the service is good regardless of the rules of the restaurant. Your server did not make the decision of how drinks were refilled or whether you go to the cashier yourself or not. So don't punish the server.

If i had a great person who smiled, made sure i had everything, took some time for sm talk while i was placing my order, then i tip 20%. but if i had a person who didn't know how to smile, just brought the food and never checked to see if i needed anything, then 5 maybe 10%. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW SECONDS TO SMILE OR SAY SOMETHING NICE TO SOMEONE, ALWAYS REMEMBER ,THE PERSON THATS BEING WAITED ON, MAY HAVE HAD A BAD DAY and they will remember a person who was really kind to them.

Depends if the drinks are self serve. If you had to ask someone to refill drinks but the waiter/tress was still cool 10%. If the person waiting was a moron or a prix I leave $2.

15%-20% they also cleaned your table which means they dont have bus boys. Tip your servers if they do a good job. If they do a bad job then tip 10%. But only if their bad service was something they as a server can correct.

Depends on how much the bill was. They were still helping you and they only get paid minimum wage. Servers live off tips.
I always tip 25% unless they were terrible. But then again, I used to work at a resturant and I know what they go through.

A common practice is to pay 15%. If the service is really bad, then anywhere from 5-10%.
