Are we answering your homework for you in hunter safety class?
I hope not.
The answer is rifling.
Edit: -> Good to hear. I'm glad to be able to help in studying up for another hunter to become as safe as possible when coming of age.

Rifling.
Do you just have the test and not the handbook??
I understand you want to pass, and that you say that you do not want to cheat but there seems to be a lot of hunter safety course related question here lately.
If you studied and can't find the answers in your materials, I can understand, but either your instrutor sucks or you have no study materials.
I would call you lazy, but you have taken the time to post the questions on here, and it takes longer to do that, than look them up on the www! If anything, I hope that you are learning something from the input you are getting here, and not just jotting down answers just to pass the test. Some of the info may be the difference between safety, and possibly an injury or death.
Be careful!

The rifling spirals through the barrel and imparts spin to the bullet so it will travel in a straighter line towards the target.

Rifling refers to helix-shaped pattern of grooves and lands that have been formed into the barrel of a firearm. It is the means by which a firearm imparts a spin to a projectile around its long axis, to gyroscopically stabilize it to improve accuracy and stability.

It's D. But I cannot see how asking on YA is any less cheating that looking it up on wikipedia. In fact I would say that it is cheating more, as you are asking us to do the work for you!
