You know, Pluto, the moon, Milky Way Galaxy. One theory I have, even though I am an atheist, is that if God were real he made them so man could expand across, well, everywhere in the Galaxy. But doesn't this complicate the whole rapture business? I don't think Jesus would wait for the ones on Uranus to get back to Israel.

Genesis 1

The Beginning
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 Now the earth was [a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

"If I had no other data than the early chapters of Genesis, some of the Psalms and other passages of Scripture, I would have arrived at essentially the same picture of the origin of the universe, as is indicated by the scientific data." Nobel Prize-winning physicist Arno Penzias (Big Bang Theorist)

So if the guy that got the Nobel prize is happy with the creation in the Bible... why aren't you? What are your degrees in? ...

Everyone with a scientific mind knows that the bible is becoming out of date. The universe goes on forever, face it, there IS other life out there. We have even discovered beginnings of life on other planets in our solar system. Sure, just some bacteria, but still life. Why would God put that there? Were those just his screw ups, well they cant be since God never screws up, everything has a reason. So why are ther bacteria on other planets? Why are there so many other planets in the universe that we have no number to count them all? Humans will never be able to expand into another galaxy. The next solar system is it unless we figure out how to go faster than the speed of light...even though time would stop if you went the speed of light.

Genesis chapter 1 verse 14 says that God created the lights in the heavens on the third day.

The Bible says in Mark 13:27:

And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

This verse seems to indicate that there will be those who are in other parts of the universe and since God works instantaneously and time has no meaning in his domain. That problem will be taking care of.

So that should answer the questions you asked.

Creation is the entire universe as we understand it. It is said He made the "heavens" and the earth. Heavens does not refer to the atmosphere of the earth.

"All" was created in the 6 days.

Genesis 14

14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights--the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.

Fairly straightforward.

This next for Philip K:

Human beings were created...and we change until the day we die and I would wager we continue to do so long after that...just as the universe changes. It is aging, and this has no bearing on whether it was created...just proves that time is moving on for all of us. The stars in the sky are our way of knowing the days are getting closer to the end.

Ever thought why God decided one day to create a universe with an Earth and some life after all the years of nothingness? What was he doing before that day, planning the universe?
The universe was not created, it is still forming and expanding.

That's probably why He mostly likely didn't put creatures on Uranus... And God has all of the time in the world... I mean, He did make it, ya know...

Time is a necessary but finite concept of man. God is infinite and eternal.
