Next time you have your cat at home, keep it inside. It isn't wrong to speak to your neighbors and tell them that your cat needs to be eating what you feed her at home. It is important to know what she is being fed and by whom so that you can keep her safe.

Just go over there and say innocently...if you don't mind me asking, have you been feeding my cat? It's just that he's hasn't been eating like he normally has and I'm worried that he might have lost his appetite becasue he's sick but I thought maybe he was getting food from somewhere else.
As for your cat, if the neighbours stop feeding him then your cat will know where his best interests are and start staying at home a little more foten. You could also try buying the more expensive cat food...it sounds silly but the better cat foods are so much better and there is a definate difference in them. If he's got a choice between processed meat and fresh tuna then his choice is clear.

did u ever once talk to these ppl? if u didn't already, here's something u should do...
go over there and introduce urself, u may as well bring the cat over and mayb ur husband and whoever else is living with u and introduce them while ur at it. it should go something like this mayb "hi, i'm so and so and i just wanted to get to know u better since u just moved in next door. by the way this is my cat, so and so..." and start chatting. it may seem hard to do, just pratice the night before. and in between the chat u have with them, try squeezing in how ur cat acts towards u and them, something like, " i simply adore my cat, had him since he was a kitten, but it seems to like u guys more ever since u moved nextdoor (fake laugh) i wish it would come back during the nights, i get worried about it..." if u somehow squeezed that sentence in ur chat, mayb they'll stop feeding ur cat and he'll come home to u. if it didn't work, i tried...

You have to overcome your fears about talking to your neighbors for the cats sake. What if they are giving her food that is bad for her - are they going to pay the vet bills?
I guess its good that they like your cat but what if she damages something in their house? You could lie and say that she needs a special diet for her medical condition. Ask them please to shoo her away when she comes there. Keep her in your house for a while too to help her settle abit, theres great cat toys you could get her. Cats find catnip ( a plant) irresistible to sniff - put some around your house.

Don't be afraid to go over to your neighbor and tell them not to feed your cat. I went to my neighbors for the same thing because it messed up her digestive system. My cat is a grubber and so it was not good that she was eating to much of a variety of food. Good luck.

No doubt the people mean well, Ashley. But you about have to talk with your neighbors about feeding your cat.
You may even have to start keeping him inside: He still thinks the other place is home and will keep going back there until something happen to stop him.
Good luck!

I had a cat that lived between me and my next door neighbour. Quite often cats do pop in and out of other peoples houses but it's only ok if you're both happy. Ask them to stop encouraging it in and feeding it. It's not fair of them.

Just ask them to not feed your cat. Tell them you're concerned he's gaining weight or he's on a special diet (mine actually was). they'll probably understand. He still might go over to visit them though. I wouldn't worry about that. My cat goes next door to play with his best cat friend.
