I'm in the process of planning my wedding and I want to make sure that the day goes well and everyone enjoys themselves - including myself and my bride!

I've been doing some research online but can't really find any good websites that answer all my queries. Can anyone recommend a good site to look at?

Also, as we are planning a small wedding, it would be awesome if we could find out about weddings that don't cost a million dollars. We want to save some money for the honeymoon. LOL.

Some of the best advice I got came from friends and family who had recently gotten married. Just getting ideas and suggestions from them on how they did things, which vendors they went with, what worked and what didn't, saved a lot of stress!

A friend of mine got married in July (just a few weeks after I did) and they had their reception at a county park/zoo. They rented the building for the afternoon and brought grills, burgers and brats, coolers, and sides. He said they saved a LOT of money by doing things that way, and it completely fit him and his wife. The guests had a great time because it was such a relaxed atmosphere, basically just a big party where we were celebrating their happiness.

I guess where I'm going with this is set up your wedding so you and your bride will be happy. Don't do everything just because tradition says you should, or because it's what someone else did, or to please others. (Granted, you may have to make some concessions, but they shouldn't be major things that neither of you will be okay with.) It should be one of the happiest days of your life! Good luck and enjoy the planning! :)

We had the wedding and reception when my son got married in our house and backyard - saved a bundle.
We just served wine, beer, and soft drinks, no hard liquor.
We had a friend who is not a caterer, just a good cook, prepare the food.
We had planned to have a good friend who is an amateur photographer take the pictures, and his camera broke. Wish we had hired a photographer or at least had a back-up camera.
Keep things low-stress, you'll be glad you did.
Good luck.
