If God used the tree of knowledge of good and evil to tempt Adam and Eve, it must have been sinful, what is more tempting than sin?

I don't think so. How else can a person obtain WISDOM without knowledge of Good and Evil?

If you are referring to Adam & Eve, their sin was actually DISOBEDIENCE to God's command given them.

Peace be with you.

This is an interesting question. If it is a sin, then why would anyone sin? I mean, there's a certain circular logic here. It is a sin to know whether or not you are sinning? Something like that.

I think the thing was Adam and Eve were supposed to get their instructions directly from God, and not learn about good and evil by themselves. So disobedience was the first sin, but if you don't know the difference between good and evil, how were you expected to know that disobedience was evil?

It wasn't a 'sin' to eat it. No more so than trying to breathe water. God apparently saw the need to sternly warn Adam, then he, not God- told Eve about it.
The serpent called into question the fact that God had spoke to Adam in the first place, claiming that there wasn't anything harmful in it, which was the first recorded Lie in history.

The sin committed by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, as any discerning person would know, was *not* that of acquiring the knowledge of good and evil! God could and did provide everything for which Adam and Eve had any need, whatsoever, including any knowledge! The sin they committed was their willful *disobedience* of God's clear, unambiguous instructions! They fully understood these instructions; but willfully chose to disobey them!

If you would read the Genesis account in the Word of God, the Bible, you would see that it is *very* clear what their *actual* sin was!

Oh, come on, "auntb93": They knew God well enough to know that they were to obey him without question! They didn't have to know what was "good" or "evil"; they just needed to trust and obey Him!

If Adam and Eve never ate the fruit, they would have no firsthand knowledge of evil.

The disobedience was the sin. Knowing the guilt and shame from it compared to how it felt to be good is the result of the sin.

I've never considered the tree to be a temptation created by God, but you make a good point.
I think knowledge of good and evil is a sin only if you don't care, and do evil to others. Some folks are just evil clear through, and there is nothing anyone can do. Some try to be good clear through, and there is the struggle we face. It does make us stronger when we want to do something wrong really badly, and we do good instead. Perhaps some of our struggles are created by God, I don't know. Never considered it before.

Blessed Be

knowledge is good if it come from a true source, but very deadly when we get it all twisted like this. God did not use any thing to temp Adam and eve, the lust that was in them was planted by the devil and when they disobeyed what God said to them then knowledge became bad and it cost them and us as well.but thanks to God for his son Jesus the Christ we no longer have to live without good knowledge knowing whats right and whats wrong.- God do not temp anyone we temp our self with lust of the flesh lust of the eyes and the pride of life,

You expound your question by referring to a fairy tale. What is sin? Is it believing absurd fairy tales? Is it believing that there are no special days? Is it willfully and knowingly polluting the environment? Is sin a contrivance of man? Are we all wired by our DNA to basically know the difference between right and wrong? Or is it something that we learn? Do you really think that there is a grand being taking into account the "sins" of insignificant beings on a insignificant world in the vast Cosmos?

No. That in fact is one of the objectives God has for mankind. To know both good and evil and to consciously chose good. However, the sin of Adam was a direct act of disobedience of God's command.
