C- broadside.
The rear-end shot (called a Texas Brain shot) is messy to clean and you will ruin good meat. Not to mention that it does not kill very well.
Head on shots are possible some times but they too will end up with the guts blown up and a mess.
Quartering toward is a shot I will not take.
Quartering away as long as they are standing still I have done shots like that.
The idea with big game is to stop them in their tracks. A broadside shot will do that especially if you hit the big bones and break them down. The heart and lungs are both very vulnerable with broadside shots. I never shoot at the head. Not only is it a very small target but you can blow the antlers off a good trophy bull.

Okay - I'm NOT a hunter, so I won't even *pretend* to be speaking with any degree of expertise... but it would seem that elk is best shot at a broadside.
...and why would you ruin a perfectly good BEER by shooting it?? Heck, all you're gonna do is end up with a big foamy mess all over the place.

Actually, the elk needs to be broadside but the beer is best head on.

C -Broadside
but as far as "beer" being large game, I never knew that! I have heard of, and played a lot of "large beer" (drinking) games, though!
Is that like when you order the "TALL" glass of beer when you go somewhere like Chili's?

If you're hunting to mount the head, you will want a rear end or broadside. If you're hunting to eat the animal, head on is best, because you dont want to be picking pellets out of your meat.
