You´re right James O. All the denominations fell on the Anabaptists. There are also the Cathars to be mentioned but hey, that´s a full plate already.

Sure I have.
Pope John Paul 2 called all Catholics to lament the uses of violence and persecution in the Catholic past.

I am waiting for Protestants and Muslims to do the same
about their histories, especially about the treatment of Irish Catholics and of Catholic minorities in Protestant-dominated places.

How about both Catholics and Protestants apologizing to Anabaptists?
Have you heard of Cromwell and many other Protestant mass killers of "Papists"?

I'm actually working on a book about them. My thoughts are that these men understood that common folk don't have the intellectual preparation to defend themselves from heresy. They also understood they these innocent people had souls which were far more important than their bodies, making the spread of heretical ideas a far more serious a crime against them than even murder. So, they took steps to defend them from the wicked heretics that were attacking them with hellish ideas. For this, I applaud them.
