If God isnt real then how would the universe have been created, i'm sure you've heard of the big bang theory and evolution and stuff like that. The big bang theory is the most stupid, illogical thing to believe in because it defies the laws of physics because an explosion doesnt organize, it disorganizes, and how did the matter get there in the first place to explode? evolution does not make sense whatsoever because it is a proven scientific fact that life can not come from an inaminate object, so when it comes down to it if you dont believe in a god you end up making your own God (like sex, your job, alcohol, drugs, gambling etc.) and your life will never feel fulfilled. I am a Christian and i am a very happy person. If we are nothing more than part of the evolutionary process then that means we are a bunch of animals. God made us to be in his own image, we have a spirit and we have free will and no other created being has that. My faith that i have is in my lord jesus christ, if you accept him and make him your master of your life he will save you from hell and you will go to heaven

No, and here are three simple reasons why not:
1. (Occam's Razor) Why make anything more complicated than it already is? That is, why use a supernatural being to explain what is already naturally occuring, be it the formation of a stalactite or the complex biological processes involved in pregnancy? There is no need to build a sort of Rube Goldberg machine out of the world, especially when one considers that the extra step of god requires many other caveats and corollaries.
2. (Russel's Teapot) What proof do you have that god does exist? None that does not rely on a logical fallacy like begging the question... there is no more empirical proof of the existence of a supernatural being than there is of a gigantic teapot orbiting the planet, or an invisible pink unicorn, or a flying spaghetti monster.
3. (argument from prayer) This works best for Christians, but probably for Jews and Muslims too -- if god is god then he must necessarily be omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent. If he is just two of the three, then he is not god. But the concept of prayer, which is central to all religions, destroys that. First, consider what most people pray about: problems they're facing. Already this is a problem, for if there is a problem then either god did create it and he is not omnibenevolent,or he didn't create it and he's not omnipotent. Assuming that god did create it, then he either intended it to go that way (not omnibenevolent) or he didn't see it coming (not omniscient). If you have to pray to him to get the message across, then he isn't omniscient either, because he can't read your mind. Finally, if you pray and expect it to change god's mind, that means that you have power over him... not only do you have the power to change his mind, but you also have a better grasp of the situation than he does.

God as a concept is very real. Millions of people worldwide believe in a (or many) deity figure(s).
God means different things for anyone who comes into contact with the term and its connotations.
For me, the word "god" is a centrepiece for religious ideals. The idea that a centralised intelligence that governs our reality is a little vague. I am sure there are influences in this world that neither science or religion can yet explain but that is not to say we should believe in something intangible. God exists in society as a buffer between ourselves and events which occur. whether the outcome is positive or negative for the "believer" involved, god has figured into that and therefore takes sociological pressure off the individual. More likely is people cannot possibly comprehend some of the events in this world and so they need to outsource to a "higher" intelligence. This of course being based on very old books in which the information is very outdated.
Religious beliefs and ideals are becoming more prominent, we are on our way to the second dark ages due to people's ignorance and ease of irrational belief.
people sometimes descibe themselves as agnostic..... Not knowing one way or the other....
I am a heretic and proud of it.

Is There a god? that is a very difficult question to answer. first, you must define God. I'm fairly sure no one here beleives there is an old man sitting on a cloud pulling the world's puppet strings, but I don't think that is what God is. To me, God represents good. The devil is in me, but so is God. they are in all of us, and I'd like to think God prevails.
As for God creating the universe, I don't know. as far as I'm aware, the big bang theory is still the most popular scientific theory, but it is incomplete; no one knows how it happened. perhaps god started it all by creating the big bang.
Now there are a lot of responses to this question using science against religion, or religion against science. I don't think that they are mutually exclusive, all science aims to do is explain the workings of the universe, and it seems to be doing a good job of it, but it cannot disprove the existence of God as God means different things to each different person.
The human body, the wonders of nature, the ingenious design of the eyeball, none of these are proof of the existence of God. there is no evidence to support the existence of God. that does not mean that he does not exist, though. absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. I believe, but most of my friends are atheists. I really don't think it matters what you believe.
Perhaps the universe is like a computer, and god is the programmer; he just set it all up and let it run.

If he is real I wish he were tangibly accessible because he would be on trial for crimes against humanity.
If it wasn't for religion science would have prospored and I'm sure we would have found a cure for cancer centuries ago. There has been so much hatred, horror and violence caused in his name, so much so you couldn't make it up. Also by giving us different coloured skin he was the founder of racism. Well done god!
How about we are here by a freak accident, alone in this universe and lets concentrate as a human race to fight disease, poverty and natural disasters.

Yes, God is real. There is nothing more satisfying than to know God in a personal way. God loves you and gave His Son to die on the cross for you. He gave His life as a divine sacrifice that you might be forgiven of sin and have eternal life. Jesus said, "I am come that they might have [eternal] life" (John 10:10b). This is God's free gift to every one of us. The Bible teaches that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and deserve the penalty of sin, which is separation from God. When we realize that our sins separate us from Him, it is our privilege and responsibility to turn from sin unto Christ in true repentance, with faith in Him as Savior and Lord. In taking this step we become a part of God's family; see John 1:12.
To receive Christ as Savior is a transforming experience. Not only do we gain a new dimension of joy, peace and purity, but we find all things become new; see 2 Corinthians 5:17.

I, like others believe that whatever Deity you believe is real, is only real TO YOU. One can not force that idea on an individual who chooses not to believe. No where in the history of man kind can you find more hate, inhumanity, and even death carried out against our fellow man than can be found in the history of religious difference. There has been so much "evil" carried out against mankind, all because each religious doctrine has a different name by which they call their deity. It's called "Treat others as you want to be treated"....PERIOD. Not "Treat others the way you want to be treated BUT ONLY IF they believe the way you do!!! People need to be willing to accept that others think and believe differently. That does not make them wrong. We each have our own truths. Our truths are based on what is beneficial to our lives. If an individual is wrong in what they believe, feel or think, if it causes no harm, who are WE to tell them they wrong. I am a spiritual person. I have taken the opportunity to find moments of truth and beauty in ALL beliefs. I find it allows me to accept the differences that are among us, and I am more open and willing to hear all sides and see the good in each person. THAT way of thinking has made my life more full-filling than the 20+ years of following a Christian path EVER made me feel.

Whoa... deep question.
I think God is... not a dude in the sky who controls my life and has a really popular son.
Maybe God is the hope that we are connected to something bigger than our ordinary existence and that our little lives are not totally random.
The notion of "God" is primitive - early man explained anything he did not understand by attributing it to a "GOD." I wonder if eventually humans will dismiss the idea as we have dismissed the idea that rainfall and rivers flooding are punishments for our own misdeeds.

are you real?
is the world you live in and see out there real?
how can you be sure?
your senses pick up sight smell sound touch and taste and turn the stuff sensed into chemical electric signals to travel through your neurons to gather amongst all the stuff you have inbedded in your brain connections
and there they mix and mash and churn and reorganize and then send some picture concept to the frontal part of your brain for you to comprehend in order to interact with what you think is really outside of you
Perhaps the God that is really the real you that creates a whole cosmos for your comprehension is even more real than the view you have in those brain connections of what everyone out there says God is.
so perhaps it depends on what God you are talking about in your question

Each person has to answer this for himself/herself. That's why faith is the key to any religion: believing in something that cannot be proven.
My answer to this question is more philisophical than scientific. God is real because he exists at least in people's minds. I also feel that God can actually be defined as the good that people do; a definition that also proves God exists in some way. There is a phrase used today that says, "God is good." The more accurate translation from Hebrew (or Aramaic or wherever it came from) means "God equals good", implying that the two are one in the same. Therefore, if good exists, then God exists.
This proves that God exists in some form, so my answer is "yes."
