My sister's black lab ( yes I know its not a cat) is now getting white fur underneath on its belly and on the tip of its tail and also around his mouth..

Ive also had a friend who owned a black cat that started to get white fur around its mouth and stomach as well when it got older.

It is possible for them to get grey or even white hairs as they age. And some breeds of cat do change color as they grow from kitten to adulthood. But I've never seen they actually get white patches of fur from aging.

Yes, cats gray, just as humans do. Their eyes look different too -- not the eyeball proper, but the skin around the eyes sags a little, and seriously senior cats tend to be swaybacked, they don't seem to lift their tails in greeting quite so high, and when you look down on them from directly over them, they have a kind of torpedo shape.

yep and/or stress can cause it also just like humans. it is still lose of pigment in the hair folicle.
