SARAH.......I love you!!!!! Ok, a bit dramatic but you are so awesome. I am far from perfrect myself, but have never openly discussed my flaws "as eloquently" as you. I'll admit, that my son doesn't brush his teeth everynight either. When I do read to him (I'll pick the short book so it doesn't take too long), our PB & J don't always have "J" cause I haven't gone to the grocery store this week. Ironing laundry in our house means wetting a wash cloth and throwing it in the dryer with that wrinkled outfit for a while..............
AND, what am I doing right now........I'M ON THE COMPUTER answering your PERFECT question.
THANK YOU for opening my eyes to the world of other "not so perfect parents" ............rather than the goodie 2 shoes, make-up wearing, perfect hair @ 8:00 in the AM, cupcake holding, over-the-toppers, president of the PTA mothers around here........I wonder what their real lives are like?

Yep! I am part of the imperfect club too! I'm with you on the laundry, right now I have 2 loads literally sitting in the middle of the loungeroom waiting to be folded, yet while my baby is asleep and my 7 year old is playing cards on her own I am here answering questions! I have days where I am motivated and get on with things, and I do try hard to play with both the kids, but I definately have times where I just avoid housework etc, particualary days like today where I just got my period!!! I figure that as long as the kids are happy and healthy then the little things don't really matter. I am not one of those people that wipes my babies face til it's spotless every time we go out, she always has at least one piece of food stuck to it, and a couple of marks on her clothes because I didn't get around to finding a bib. If people want to judge, they will judge. I have actually had more comments on what a great mother I am than the other way around. I think it comes down to accepting your flaws, and being proud of the effort you do put it.

I know that I am not perfect. I do not think that anyone really is, and the ones that I do know that try to play that things are perfect usually have more drama or troubles than I. I know I can't fit everything in in a day. My mother once told me that there are more important things in life than the house so pace yourself. Don't run yourself ragged before the end of the race. I completely agree, but why is it I feel guilty for leaving one thing undone? I know that I could get quite a bit done in a day, but when is it my time to relax? The problem with the world today is high expectations and lack of time...society knows this which is why America is getting Fat... we are grabbing McD's on the way home and we pay more for it, we try to save money buy shopping at Walmart and get stuck with buying more than we should that is junk to begin with, standing in line forever and walking a mile just to get to the car. How else is a person supposed to help their children with every assignment, get the full amount of sleep needed, umm hello how about the exercise we are supposed to get...who has time? I don't even if I work my but off at home all day long because there is always something more to do. Our families sound so much alike.
I get up and homeschool four children, then we clean the house, certain days of the week I have class so therefore I do have homework, I have appointments to set up for this or that, my children still need one on one time, not to include baths, brushing teeth, laundry. grocery shopping, and where do I end. I am not sure when I will get to cleaning out some of the closets or the dust. My husband wonders why I am too tired. Cause all stay home mothers know just how much fun we have talking with the walls, playing with our children, not getting an ounce of intellegent conversation, as if the house magically cleaned itself, and the children woke up acting like perfect little angels everyday. So trust me you are not the only one not perfect. I guess what gets me though are... those that act like we should be perfect... I mean after all they are. Well thanks for letting me blow off some steam with more of todays society. I hope you enjoy.

I am far from perfect. I have 2 boys 2 and 1 next week and another on the way. My house is always a mess AT LEAST once a week, and occasionally the dishes get so piled up we have to wash them because we have no dishes left. I currently have a load of washing that needs doing again because i did not hang it up straight away. I do feel bad sometimes because I am a stay at home mum, so cleaning is what I am supposed to do.
And yes, while I may not read to them every night, or brush their teeth everyday, and sometimes yell at them for reasons I myself do not even know why, my kids know they are loved, they have everything they need, they are never hungry or thirsty and they have a nice warm bed to sleep in. So if someone comes over and the house is a mess, I don't care, because i know I was playing with my kids or giving myself a bit of a break ( which with kids is needed) and doing stuff on the computer.

I am most definitely perfect!!!! LOL! Just kidding.
With three kids, I think you're doing just great. I only have a baby, and I still have a room full of laundry that needs to be ironed and put away. Sometimes we get take out, and sometimes we just have canned tuna for lunch. It's so hard to get everything done, and have a perfectly clean house, with perfectly clean kids, and cooked food every single day for lunch and dinner. We're only human. Just having my baby well fed, washed, and happy every day is my priority. Everything else comes second. When I try to be perfect, the pressure is too much. It drives me crazy.
Sometimes it's better to order pizza, and spend the time you would cooking, playing with the kids. They need it once in a while, and so do you. Who wants a perfect mom? I'd rather have one that's human, and gives me lots of love and attention.
You're doing a good job. Give yourself a pat on the back, and don't have unrealistic expectations of yourself.

Not by a long shot am I perfect! There are times when laundry gets done when one of the boys tells me he has been wearing the same socks for 3 days straight! I have been known to borrow $20 from my kids for gas, promising to pay it back later in the day and forgetting about it for about 3 weeks. There are days I can't believe the things I've done. But everyone on here talking about their imperfections, myself included, should just remember all the times they were there to get the monster in the closet, to kiss the boo boo, to stay up until 2 a.m. to make a paper mache solar system the night before it was due even though it had been assigned a month earlier!

June Clever isn't real. What real woman could wear high heeled shoes while cleaning house, baking cookies, doing laundry and cooking supper and still be smiling at the end of the day? OUCH!
I am pregnant with baby #5 and don't eat or exercise like I should, but I don't smoke or drink. My little ones don't always brush their teeth, but they do always say their prayers with mom or dad before going to bed. Speaking of going to bed, they don't always make it on time. I rarely cook a 5 course meal, but nobody goes hungry. We eat out too much. Laundry may not always get folded or hung and put away but everyone has clean clothes to wear. Sometimes I yell, but my kids know I love them very much. The list could go on.
WE ARE REAL MOMS!

We r the normal ones!!!!! Lets see I love to eat cake before dinner! Icecream in bed! I sometimes I dont pull the sheets up on the bed and just yank the comforter over just to make it LOOK like i did it! Just this morning I swept the kitchen so fast that ummmmm I swept it behind the washer and dryer cuz i didnt wanna hunt down the dust pan...........

My faults? Too many to list. I wonder how the hell it gets done when I see a house of a person who has children and the house is clean. I wonder how it is that I am suppose to keep my house clean when my daughter loves to throw her food in the floor and my son thinks it is the funniest thing to give my daughter candy... he likes to share. He is three and she is 15 months. My laundry needs to be done right now, and I could probably be doing two hundred better things right now with my time than typing on this computer. I know that in no way am I perfect, but I do know that in a lot of ways my children benefit from me being able to admit that moreso than a constantly clean house would.

I think that it's ridiculous that people think parents are supposed to be perfect. Your parents weren't, what makes you think you would be? We all make mistakes, and sometimes we take the easy road instead of the right road. We should, however, be able to live with the mistakes we make. If we make them too big, they overtake us.
No one is June Cleaver, and people need to wake up. That doesn't mean you can tell me how you think my child should be raised, or make "suggestions" on my parenting skills.
My 8 month old makes her own schedule, and I just try to keep up. When I can't take her screaming anymore, she goes into her crib until I can regain my sanity. She gets french fries when we go out to dinner because it entertains her. I buy her new toys to keep her occupied so I can do things I want.
I think all moms deserve a break, and we should all be thankful we have these little blessings-even if we aren't perfect!
