"IF" true, what type of impact would this have on Christianity and the world, besides the vatican losing much of its pull and power. Is it true that it is mostly the vatican fighting this idea??

Come on folks, Mary Magdalene.

2007-08-24 10:56:59 · update #1

Is there any line in this question that asks for ideals about the validity of Jesus and Mary Magdalene having a child? NO. Hence the quoted "IF". So, knowing this, can anyone just answer this speculative question??????

MIDGE,

So basically your implying that when YOU get married, or if YOU already are, that its just some "blasphemous", "carnal" relationship????? I'm sure husband (now or future) would like to know your opinion on marriage.

By that, you DO imply you're talking about the Da Vinci Code theory, right? As in Jesus and Mary MAGDALENE [and not his Mother Mary of course!]

Obviously, there has been much talk about that conspiracy... and it continues to linger inspite of the vehement denials made by the Vatican, the RC Church clergy, and a majority of its faithful Catholics. It would definitely have a very ADVERSE IMPACT on the teachings of the RC Church... IF IT WERE PROVEN TRUE.

Meantime, don't hold your breath on that.

Peace be with you.

And by "a very ADVERSE IMPACT on the teachings of the RC Church..." I thought that it would suffice to answer your question. Obviously, there is/will be tremendous reverberations to be felt by ALL THOSE other Christian denominations that rely totally on the Bible for their doctrines. After all, the Mother Church gave birth to many harlot children.

Personally, it wouldn't faze me one way or the other. Married or not, His teachings remain the same. But that wasn't the point of your question though... was it??

It would be a wonderful discovery!
It wouldn't hurt my faith at all and would probably cause many who work for Satan unknowingly to reconsider their views. Perhaps they would go back and read what Christ said for them self without some hateful bigot telling them what each phrase Jesus said "Really means." If people read with an open mind, it means something gentle, beautiful and eternal.

There's no evidence even in Gnostic scriptures of this but Mary was the "Disciple Christ loved" she even had her own Gospel. Many Christians before 1307 believed Jesus had children. The awareness level and ignorance on earth today hurts the heart.

It's only speculation at this point and the theorists do not have an iota of proof, so Christians needn't worry that Jesus and Mary Magdalene had a child. And so what if they did? Does that diminish anything that Jesus did? If we are looking for perfection, let us look to ourselves. I doubt there are any "perfect" Christians among us.

Note: Mary Magdalene WAS at the cross, if you recall.

I really don't see how that would would be bad for those who believe in the Bible....so what if Jesus and Mary Magdalene got married and had children. It really doesn't take away from anything does it? Jesus was just another soul, though further evolved than other souls...all were created by God. Jesus only incarnated on Earth once though, while most souls require many incarnations to learn their lessons.

Actually, the Bible doesn't address the issue of Jesus' personal life. It was expected that Jewish men of that time get married. Rules that priests have to be celibate didn't come along until a few hundred years after the death of Jesus. Rabbis have never had to be celibate.

Who can know whether they did or not? I find it amusing that so many people seem so certain that it's not possible. But if proven to be true, this would no doubt cause a stir.

If you are referring to the Mary Magdalene and the Jesus Blasphemy that they had some sort of a carnal relationship and that only the Catholic Faith stands in the way of this belief than I say then it is truly the Catholic Faith that is the true religion because this idea is just pure Blasphemy. Jesus was married to his Church---that's it ----the end of the story----there is no other wife but, Jesus' Church---his only children are the baptized men and women of his church. People no longer believe in sound doctrine but, they rush every which way searching for junk that will tickle their ears and make their own sinfulness sound like piety

assuming you meant Mary Magdalene, it would mean the Bible was wrong, and that significant facts about Jesus and the primitive Church had been hidden until Michael Baigent discovered them.
You assume that Christianity = Vatican. All Christians who take Jesus seriously would have a problem, as would Muslims (since this would contradict the Koranic picture of Jesus)

I am a protestant and don't believe Jesus was ever married or fathered a child. The Bible says marriage is good, so I don't see much of a problem with Jesus being married, but if so, it is a well kept secret. I believe if He had been, then the wife would have been at the cross, and His mother may have been left to her.

It wouldn't make a difference to my faith. It would have been strange for Jesus, as a Jew who didn't start preaching until he was around 30, to not have a family.

The vatican seems to oppose a lot of stuff that probably wouldn't even become an issue if they didn't oppose it so strongly in the first place!

Probably not much, but the media would have a field day with all the people claiming to be descendants of Jesus. After all, there could be a ton.
Jesus had a kid, then that kid had 2, then those kids had 2, and so on and so on and so on....
It would be more of an inconvenience than anything.

btw people, he isn't talking about his mother. I'm not religious, but at least I know about religion enough to talk about it.
