Why are atheists in the religion section?

To vex Christians and post ugly comments when someone of faith asks a question! I always wondered why the Godless would want to hang around a place where people professed God? Maybe they want to believe and do not know how? I do not know! I do think some of them are very disrespectful and vile. The way they come in here and say vile things about God and His son, Jesus shows they do not respect others! Some of them just want an honest debate or are sincere in their questions and I do not mind that. Others are just really bad people who do not respect anything! Anyway, as Christians we should not give up on these lost ones and keep praying for them even though it would be of no use to try to convert them! The Lord will draw all those who have receptive hearts! They need to respect that they will not change our minds about the Lord. They need to quit saying vile things about God on this forum! For the most part, they really do not have any horse sense! I have never encountered a bunch of folks who are so immune to reason in my life! Anyway, we cannot stop them from posting here so I have tried to ignore them because the way they speak about God is sometimes so disrespectful, it is very offensive to me! There are a few who are nice and respectful when they ask questions, and I do not mind their questions and will answer if I know.

I'm not sure it's possible to have any kind of meaningful discussion about religion to begin with; it means so many different things. It is a set a beliefs that identify a group and has throughout history almost always been political, that is it confers special privileges on groups or discriminates against them in ways that have little to do with the right to private worship, strictly speaking. That is, religious affiliation has been a means of access to better jobs and political power in many cases. Various religious groups believe they have a monopoly on the 'truth', concerning human destiny, the next world, and morality. They believe they have 'values', meaning good values as opposed to those of other religions, agnostics, atheists and others who don't wish to bring religious beliefs into the mix at all, although they may have some. It is all a great bore to have the Anglicans, for instance, schism over the recognition or not of gays and lesbians. It seems to me that religion thrives in the absence of human fairness and justice and would disappear or take an entirely different form in a politically, socially and economically just world.

Perhaps because it's religion and spirituality? And perhaps because we're confronted just about daily with religion, whatever WE would think/prefer? It's good to see what others think, as well ...

1. They enjoy arguments. Of course this is fruitless; they will not change the minds of believers.

2. There is a part of them that WANTS to believe. They are fascinated by the idea, or they wouldn't waste their time here.
