Well if your description of the book is true- then it is NOT at all Accurate.
I am an LDS woman. I know LDS people with disabled children and their children are welcomed and encouraged to be part of the church. My friend is married to a deaf man who has had all the priveleges the church offers including a mission. In fact the Church has set up special wards for hearing impaired people so that they can communicate with their other ward members. They really do a lot to take care of people with special needs.
Women are treated very well- Abuse of any kind is simply not tolerated. Men who are abusive are usually kicked out of the church. It just is not allowed or tolerated.
Really if you want accurate information- please go to the source.

Find out the truth about Mormonism: http://www.mormon.org
In an organization of over 12 million members, you will find some bad apples. So, I ask you to judge the Church by what the Church teaches and does.
Women are not treated as slaves, sex objects, or second hand citizens. Any man caught abusing his wife or children is excommunicated and turned over to the civil authorities.
Disabled children are not killed. I have no idea how someone could even think we did such a thing.
EDIT: The question is about the book _Out of Mormonism_; it is not about _the Book of Mormon_.
2nd note: Alma says "land of Jerusalem". Which would you better understand: "Ka`a`a`awa" or "the land of Honolulu"?

I don't think the first three answerers understood your question. You were asking about the book "Out of Mormonism," not "The Book of Mormon," right? I haven't read it, but I can answer about the issues you brought up.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has never taught that women should be treated badly or as sex objects or that disabled children should be killed.
Here's a quote from Gordon B. Hinckley, the President and Prophet of the Church
"There can be no place in your lives for pornography or anything of the kind. There can be no place in your lives for wife abuse or child abuse or anything of the kind” meeting, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, 4 Aug. 1998

You have to understand that the book of mormon was written a really, really long time ago: either about 180 or 1600 years ago depending on your faith. Anyway, as with much of lds doctrine, it is subject to change as god sees fit - polygamy, negroes, slaves and disabled, for example. Also Indians, snakes and some odd creatures that were really big and beneficial
It is now a cosmopolitan, hip and progressive church that welcomes diversity since 1978!

I am not familiar with what you are citing as sources for your question. However, I can state that most texts that purport to talk about their escape from the Church are not to be regarded very highly. The fact is that when someone leaves an organization, they usually harbor and carry with them certain ill feelings that they readily vent upon willing audiences. That goes multiply when it involves the Church. Members of the Church in good standing have the Gift of the Holy Ghost that helps them to understand things of the spirit. When they leave the Church, they lose that spirit and thus speak things they don't understand giving false impressions to their audiences. It is always more reliable to listen to active members of the Church than to give credence to apostates.
As for your second half, that is entirely false. Every soul is precious in the sight of God and in His Church. It is given for us to care for God's children here on earth regardless of their physical condition. Sacrificing ourselves for the sake of others is the essence of Christlike love. We care for and provide for those that cannot care for and provide for themselves. That is what Christ would have us do.
I routinely assist a man in a wheel chair to get to and from church meetings so that he is not left out.
My wife and I have raised six children. We have done this as a partnership, a mutual desire, ambition and life goal. At the same time we encourage each other to achieve our personal goals and ambitions so that we can be all that we are supposed to be. I would not hinder her in developing her talents, nor she mine.
Please go talk to your local Church members and missionaries to get a more complete picture of the Church.

Not very...
Galatians 1:7-9
...there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel [Moroni] from heaven, preach any other gospel [Book of Mormon] to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed [condemned to hell]. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
