It makes sense to me, that God would create us, love us, want relationship with us, sacrifice for us, and forgive us, but let us live our lives, like any parent would.

I am atheist because it's blindingly obvious that religion is wrong. Try reading Richard Dawkins' the God delusion, it's very interesting.
Think about this:
If I said that there was a celestial teapot orbiting the sun between the earth and Mars, no one would be able to dis-prove it, as long as I said that the teapot was too small to be seen by our telescopes. People would, however, think i was crazy as there is obviously no orbiting teapot. But if stories of the great teapot were in ancient scriptures, taught to everyone as fact by there parents or if children were forced to sing songs such as "Oh how we love are teapot" or "Oh come all ye teapots (joyfull and orbiting)", then would i still be crazy? The same applies to The Winged Walnut of Wolverhampton, The Flying Spaghetti Monster and The Purple Dragon of Derbyshire

I am a Christian because I love Jesus Christ and all he stood for. His teachings are amazing and beautiful. He is someone I strive to be like. If everyone were to imitate Jesus Christ -heaven would be right here on earth. Jesus was perfect (but no matter how hard we try we will NEVER be perfect) Religion is just man made rules and regulations on how to worship God. I don't believe in organized religion. I attend a non-denominational New Testament church that preaches the teachings and life of Christ (not religion). So that is why I am a Christian and not into religion.

A good reason? Because this is where I was born. If I was born in India I would obviously be a different religion. I follow my religion because I feel that there is something bigger out there. I read what they say...and take what I like. Over the years I have picked bits and pieces from a lot of different religions and sort of made my own, for lack of a better explanation.

Hello King
Most religions world wide are the same. Different societies attach civil ideologies to the basic teachings.
All three major religions start in Genesis and believe in the same God.
Perspective is the best word to describe differences in religious believes. And I believe that seeing things from different prospectives can solve many religious conflicts.

Because the teachings make sense. If I were God (!) and were sitting down and creating a system for controlling social affairs and how people live, it would look very much like the teachings of the Baha'i Faith. There are very few things in the teachings that were incompatible with my views when I became a Baha'i, and they're not fundamental issues.

There's very little ritual (which I find alienating in most religions), your relationship with God is direct (no clergy as intermediaries), you're not only allowed but required to be rational (the harmony of science and religion), and no humans are to judge other humans (this is the preserve of God alone and means that Baha'is are generally the most tolerant and least judgemental people you'll find).

Then I started meeting Baha'is, and whilst it's also one of our teachings that one mustn't judge the Faith by the actions of its members, if one were to judge the Faith by this standard, in most cases it would be to the Faith's benefit. What a group of intelligent, rational, compassionate, non-judgemental, well-educated, humble, non-pushy people! Eight years later, I'm still grateful and humbled that I'm granted the privilege of associating with such amazing people.

And our teachings are the only ones capable of reconciling the teachings of most other religions. Fundamentally, we believe that there is one God, who reveals Himself to people via teachers. Those teachers bring messages with two components - spiritual laws, which are eternal (eg don't murder, don't lie, honour God) - and social laws which can change according to the requirements of the time and place (eg dietary laws, particular rituals etc).

We draw on the teachings of previous Messengers including the teachings of Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Zoroastrianism, MandaeanismIslam, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and indigenous beliefs, as well as the most recent Messengers The Bab and Baha'u'llah (19th century).

What is a "good reason?"

I believe because I recognize the voice of God in the scriptures. I believe because I have ears and I can hear. I believe because one day in a matter of moments my world completely changed as the scales from my eyes fell and I was reborn a new creature in Christ.

Absolutely.

First, I must point out that I was not raised in a Christian home. In fact, we were taught that Jesus was some kind of lunatic or liar and deceiver.

It took place in my mid to early 20's after a number of years of a life of drug abuse.

Someone asked me if he could pray for me, and since (as I figured) he was "praying" to a man long dead, nothing would come of it.

I was NOT looking for a way out of the drugs, as I enjoyed them, but when he DID pray for me, and I had what I can only refer to as a "revelation" that Jesus really WAS/IS the son of God, in which every cell and fiber in my body vibrated with that message, as though God, Himself spoke so powerfully that I couldn't merely ignore Him, then after faltering a few moments from the shock, I finally said "OK".

When I said "OK", the Lord began to wash all the drugs out of me. The need, the desire, and all the affects of all the drugs I had taken were completely and instantly cleared out of my body. (Well, maybe it took a FEW seconds).

Since then, my life has never been the same. I have been set free, I felt truly clean and free, and I knew I was forgiven.

Furthermore, He gave me back my mind (my brains as it were) which were pretty well gone. I couldn't even think clearly from one sentence to the next without losing my train of thought most times!

Now, I am convinced that Jesus truly IS the Son of God. Not by what anybody told me as a child during my impressionable years, but because I MET Him. I experienced an encounter with Him, and I have come to know Him in all phases of my life.

I was raised Catholic, attended Baptist services and had a Protesant wife, what the name of the religion is doesnt matter to me I believe in one simple rule "Treat other people as you'd like to be treated" if you cant make allowances to treat people with respect and understand diferent points of view then your not living life as it was meant to be lived.
