That is true, most Jews of today do not trace back to Biblical days of David. That is more like a mistery and a debate.

Yes Jesus descended from David on Mary's side. Yes He will come again and Israel will be the place and He will do all the things that the Jews need to believe in him.
Converts lost tribes all of this means nothing. Blood matters to God. The Temple will be rebuilt in Shiloh where the H of H was first permanently erected in Canaan in the Tabernacle. Also the remnant Jews that are still around will be the ones in Israel. If you are reformed you probably don't count in this. God is looking for those who stood firm on the word. How an Orthodox Jew could live anywhere else in these days is beyond me.
Seems to me the big kick is that the Jews were looking for the Lion of Judah and instead they got the Lamb of God. All fulfilled prophesy. Next time He will be the Lion and a whole lot of folks are going to be surprised.

You're right, we don't know about most Jews today that they are descended from David. However, since one of the conditions of the Messiah is that he will be a descendant of David, I'm sure he will have to prove his lineage in a satisfactory manner.

if the messiah does what he is meant to do- we will know he is form the house of David! Resurrectign the Dead, building the thrid temple, sacrificing a red heffer, re-establishing the temple service, bringing about world peace - he does these things, then we know he is the messiah, if the person doesn't do these things, then he isn't the messiah, its as imple as that...

This question opens up a real "can of worms". Christians would say that the Messiah has already come in Christ Jesus. Another problem is a lack of records. Records of ancestry have been destroyed through war and occupation by foreign powers. As such, who knows who is who? There are many other issues, but these two are the one with which I am somewhat familiar.
