Why would someone use a Bible verse to "prove" that the Bible is real, and inspired by God, when it is the validity of the Bible under question?

The Bible is true because it says it is? Isn't this circular logic?

This is the point of view.

It would be circular logic if the Bible was one book. It is 66 books put together written by lots of different people that were inspired by God.

So the reasoning is that one of the books is saying that all of the books are true.

I agree with you though - I think there are better arguments for it:

* Fulfilled prophesy is a better argument.
* Agreement between the Books of the Bible on controversial topics from different cultures and time periods.
* We have to deal with Jesus - there was a man with that name who quoted scripture and died and rose again. Hard to ignore that.

That is circular logic, which is why I don't do it. The ones that do are called fundies. The rest of us Christians are not that obtuse.

I've asked this question before. It didn't get any answers from those who quote the bible.

The superior vouches for the inferior to establish credibility. Who is superior to God to vouch for him? No one! So God vouches for Himself. The self-authenticating, God-breathed Word, the Holy Bible, speaks for itself. God gives his Holy Spirit to his born-again children to vouch for the veracity of the Holy Scriptures. It is circular reasoning at its best!

"CHEERS!" ( yes Christians can join the drinking game--I was invited to by an atheist not long after I started hanging out here------for the record, my drink of choice is iced tea)
