I don't hate atheists, and any Christian that says they do hate atheists, really isn't being a Christian at all. Most Christians would know, if they read the bible, that we are supposed love everyone and be accepting of all people.

We don't hate them. We just don't like being told we're unconditionally wrong.
I realize a lot of Christians on this board take the "attacking other people's views" tack, just as many atheists do. Personally, I will explain why I believe I'm right, but I'm not going to tell anyone else they're wrong. If everyone would be more courteous and assert their own views instead of attacking others', the world would be a happier place.

Any Christian that hates atheists needs to examine his or her own faith. Jesus said to remove the plank from your own eye before trying to remove the speck from your brother's eye. Hating anyone is a pretty big plank and any Christian that feels hate for any other person needs to concentrate on removing that plank before they have ANY chance of seeing another person clearly!
I won't deny that some people claim Christianity and yet they express hatred for atheists...they treat them with disrespect, threaten them with hell and much more...but that is their problem and it certainly isn't a problem caused by their belief in the teachings of Jesus. Hate is simply inconsistent with Christianity. Blame the person not the religion for this one, please!

Albert, why do you want to group yourself with so many other non-thinking people. Christians, true born again Christians, do not hate anyone. To hate other people of any variety, is a sin. God will not forgive people who will not forgive those they dislike. Remember the part of the Lord prayer that says," forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us." As a Christian one of our missions in life is to lead others to Christ. Atheists are good prospects. It would be hard to lead someone to Christ if we hated them.

This isn't letting anything new out...This is NOT new issue. LOL if you'd done a little short search on your question, you'd have found it in the database 600 times!
Christians don't care for atheist because they don't believe in their God. That stresses out people who believe in God...
Think about it this way. Say you liked wearing green every day, but your friend perfered to wear blue. You try to talk him into wearing green, but he refuses. Say you HATE blue... yet he is your friend! This means you have to see blue everyday... ugh. It is going to make you resentful at some point, because you are going to think green is the obvious color to wear... and why is he stressing you out wearing blue?
That's what it's like for Christians... They want everyone to wear green. They don't understand the point in wearing blue.

I think it depends on the "Christians" you're referring to. There are zealots in every religion, and they're the ones that get the press because their craziness pushes them into the limelight!
I was raised in a Christian household that taught me to love someone as a brother/sister regardless of if you're black, white, gay, straight, bi, Pagan, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist and/or had 3 abortions. Jesus states in the Bible to love thy neighbor, not to judge thy neighbor.
As long as you're doing no harm, then I don't care about religious beliefs you carry, your sexual orientation, etc.
To many Christians have been poisoned by false church doctrine. They've forgotten that Jesus taught *tolerance.* And the famous line that everyone loves to quote "Judge not lest ye be judged," but few Christians seem to follow!
