if christians are supposed to be good people then why do they... bash on people who do not believe the same things as them. Plus they dont even try and question thier religion, what is up with that. how can you devote your life to something and not question it. I bet alot of people who read this will be angry when they read this which just shows thier ability to rationalize.

I seemed to have got caught up reading answers to other questions that had been written by christians and i began to get frustrated with thier bias, and mostly thoughtless answers. I always knew that people are different, like saying all black people are gansters. So that part of the question i admit was created in a flustered moment.
yet the question still stands, for those i am speeking of.

PS telling people they are going to hell, or that they are damned or that bs would be considered bashing. Plus yelling at some one and telling them they are wrong is considered bashing in my book

II Timothy 4
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

These words come strait out of our Bible. In verse 3, of this passage, Paul (the writter of this book) states that the time will come when men will no longer endure sound doctrin. That day is here. Just take a look around R&S and in the miror and see. You call it "judging" when people tell you that you are doing wrong, and that the path that you are going down leads to destruction.

Wake up!!!!!!!!!!! The Bible also says this: Matthew 7
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it

In other words, doing just "any ole way" will not get you to Heaven!!!

A true christian will not bash people or other religions! There are many people who claim to be 'Christians' but do a LOT worse things than ones who don't claim to be! A person can go to church every time the doors open and put up a good front but that does NOT make them a true christian! They should think about how they treat their parents, children, and others! I believe if you Never go to church but live a good life and be true to yourself and others makes you the person you should be! When people do things to impress others, who is really getting fooled? People of all faiths and religions have the right to be who they are and not be condemned for it. Everyone should ask themselves " Why is my beliefs or religion any better than anyone Else's and just who am I to condemn?" The world would be a MUCH better place for all! Dreaming is good!

Dear Fish and Rice,

First of all it shows that different people are at different places in their faith. There are many sincere Christians on here who do actually try to answer people's questions and state their beliefs in a respectful way. Just like while there is a lot of "Christian-bashing" there are actually non-Christians who do ask questions respectfully and are sincere and not trying to take a cheap-shot or mock someone who has different beliefs from them.

Secondly, i think there is quite a fair number of people on Y! Answers who claim they are Christian but are not. i've read posts and answers by people who support racism, the KKK, and other strange beliefs that are not the beliefs that Jesus taught. And i've seen people accurately share Jesus' message but with very unloving and condemning attitudes.

i guess it's to say that some Christians don't act the way that they are supposed to (and it's possible that some of those people may not be Christians at all- it's really between them and God).

In terms of your assertion that Christians don't try to question their religion i think it's an un-founded stereotype. First of every Christian was at some point a non-Christian and they had to go through their personal battles and questions to draw a conclusion about Jesus Christ- and its unfair to say Christians don't think, and just accept everything they are taught blindly. The Scriptures actually tell us to know what we believe, to study God's word, and you find people in the Psalms and Bible who question God on different things. The difference is they sought out these answers -- instead of being so self-righteous and confident in their own thoughts. They asked God, they studied, and there are many intelligent Christians who truly know why they believe what they believe. They may have drawn a different conclusion than atheists, or other groups- but that doesn't mean that they do not know how to rationalize...

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

Best answer I have to the bashing thing is that small minds are threatened by any assault on their "truths"
However, that's a grotesque generalization, but it's true for ignorant people of any other faith too, AND for ignorant atheists.
You'd be astonished how many extremely educated, cultured, well-traveled people come to be Christians later in life. That's right- they/we doubt, question, explore, challenge, evaluate, analyze, question some more, but eventually decide to believe

Some people fall into the wrong crowd.
I don't know any of my christian family that bashes anyone.
We just want some G rated lives. (maybe pg)

Everyone should question their belief, imo. I have, and do all the time, it helps me to seek answers, mostly I pray for understanding and truth. It has led me to have a very different belief from other christians.

Many, many Christians question their faith and it becomes stronger. The problem is that many Christians cannot understand why others cannot 'see' what they see and do not realize that others honestly can't 'see'.
The Holy Spirit give enlightenment and that is why different people 'believe' different things---everyone is at a different place in their growth and walk with God. Many Christians are just as intolerant of other Christians who may not be as 'enlightened' as they are.

Sending you a smile to help pick up your day.

Good Christians, Bad Christians, Fake Christians, Insincere Christians, Methodist Christians, Catholic Christians, Church of Christ Christians, Church of God Christians, Protestants, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Baptist, Southern Baptist, First Baptist, Presbyterian USA, Orthodox Christians, Fundamental Christians, good Christians are being good, the others are not.

As for not questioning their religion, they may not know enough yet to do so. But I have heard some preachers, not all, mind you, equate faith with not questioning.

Some think you should never ask God any questions. Others think its all right. Some Christian faiths encourage the study of all other religions... some don't.

I am Christian. I question many things about my religious beliefs. This is how we build upon faith and gain wisdom. I don't bash anyone, but do welcome people to come to knowledge. A good Christian is like a man telling another where the food is. Not bashing him for being malnourished and hungry.

We get tired of people being told they are descendants of animals. Children shooting up our schools and neighborhoods, kids getting pregnant and having abortions. Molestation, war, poverty, and many other things of a worldly nature.

We are not perfect. But we are trying to get there. One day we will. As it is promised. We hope you too will be there.

God bless

Your question has to do with a false permise that society
has swallowed as truth.
Tolerance, as it is defined now, is not a virtue.
Love and tolerance are not the same thing.
Love is love and does not mean agreeing with
and rationalizing everything or compromising
with everything.
Truth is not relative, morality is not realtive, in reality.

If you say there are no absolutes, that is an
absolute statement in itself and is self refruting.

Society is crazy.

They are supposed to be good people, but that doesn't mean they are. Welcome to humanity. Unfortunately some "bad apples" have spoiled your perception of what it means to be a Christian. Believe me, there are significantly more Christians who are the opposite of what you have encountered which led you to ask this question. Unfortunately, they are not heard as much.

Plus, don't just assume that Christians have not questioned their beliefs. I know many who have, but still come out strong believers on the other side.
