I'm so tired of trying different diets and so many things that I just feel like giving up...What do you think is the best way to lose weight?

I haven't lost weight with any of the diets (maybe just a few pounds, but not enough) what can I do?

I'm so frustrated with myself cause I don't like the way I look but I try hard with the diets and exercise but I don't know why I fail...

Thanks...

I'm 17, 5'4, and about 135 lbs

For diet to work it has to be permanent -temporary diet changes will give you only temporary results.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio is the only fat burning exercise and burns fat all over your body (running, jogging, swimming, spinning, elliptical etc) 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), weight training a few days a week but never work on the same muscle group two days in a row (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.

Calories burned > calorie intake = Weight loss. Plain and simple. Look into zero calorie diets or catabolic diets. These may help you.
Keep in mind that complex carbohydrates are required in order for your body to process the calories. Proteins require starches to generate these, so that is why the all carb or Atkins diets work. I suggest staying clear of these and visiting a Dr for the best diet tailored to your needs.

Low Carb Dieting Tip
Your rate of metabolism dictates how many calories you burn. Heredity, gender, age, body size. diet and nutrition, activity level, and your overall health factor in on determining how high or low your metabolism is. It is normal for metabolism levels to lower as a person ages. Because of this it is important to begin stepping up your exercise routines in your thirties and forties.

Ways to Boost Your Metabolism

Eat Regularly - Eating 5-6 small meals throughout the day will give you energy throughout the day--helping you to burn calories. Whereas, calories eaten during larger meals tend to get stored as fat.
Maintain a Balanced Diet - Not only how often you eat is important, but your food choices are equally as important. Nurture you body with the appropriate balance of protein and carbs.

Eating whole foods rather than processed food gives your digestive system a workout that burns calories. For example: choose an apple over apple juice.
Workout with Weights - Building muscle mass will replace stored fat. As you build muscle tissue your metabolism increases.
Don't Forget Cardio - You need to get that heart rate up and breathe a little heavier. Twenty to thirty minutes of cardiovascular activity 5 days a week is recommended. Brisk walking or swimming are good. Or utilize exercise equipment (exercise bike, treadmill, or elliptical trainer)
Fruits and vegetables are clearly an important part of a good diet. Almost everyone can benefit from eating more of them, but variety is as important as quantity. No single fruit or vegetable provides all of the nutrients you need to be healthy. The key lies in the variety of different fruits and vegetables that you eat.
Some basic fruit and vegetable tips:
• Try to eat more fruits and vegetables. If you need 2,000 calories a day to maintain your weight and health, aim for at least nine servings (4½ cups) a day.
• Choose a variety of different fruits and vegetables. It's easy to get into a rut when it comes to the food you eat. Break out and try a wider variety - include dark-green, leafy vegetables; yellow, orange, and red fruits and vegetables; cooked tomatoes; and citrus fruits.

have you spoke to a doctor about this? everyone is individual in their weight loss and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another; so i kind of find these questions comical; but you didn't really state what the other diets was that you tried.... so this is a hard question to answer.... what works for me is getting the word "diet" out of my head and i don't allow myself to think that i'm on one and i can't have chips or unhealthy foods, i set up goals on a weekly basis... (and add or delete some the next week if it's just too hard to manage)
but for me i found that eating 6 small meals a day is easier than balancing 3 large ones, i don't snack on anything but fruit or veggies after 8PM and i cut out all restaurant food except once a week... but then again i'm only on week one... i have to decide what i'm going to do next week...

The best way to lose weight is a combination of things. Portion control is an excellent way, coupled with getting enough exercise. Another important factor, especially for young people, is to totally eliminate high sugar drinks, specifically soda.
Everything in moderation....good luck!

pick up a 5 or 10 pound weight at the gym and visualize that weight coming off holding the weight in your hands helps bring home just how heavy even 5 pounds of extra fat can be
