Stomach acids will errode the enamel on your teeth. The insides of your upper teeth are normally where you will see a lot of the erosion, but it can still effect all areas as well. The gums will be effected as well. Not only are you causing major immune system problems that fight off gum disease, but also the acids will burn and irritate the tissues causing them to be red and swollen and easy to bleed. Any time you vomit (not for purging but sickness) you should only rinse your mouth out and not brush your teeth right away. Rinsing with a tsp. or so of baking soda with your water will help reduce the acids faster. Sucking on lemons is corrosive to your enamel too. Just like the acids from your stomach.

There are chemicals that are in your stomach that help break down your food. By purging these chemicals can eat away at your teeth. These chemicals are strong enough to burn a hole in a rug. :)

THE VOMIT IS HIGHLY ACIDIC AND THE HYDROHLORIC ACID DISSOLVES THE ENAMEL OF THE TEETH.
AS A DENTIST, I CAN TELL WHO BINGES AND PURGES WHEN THEY OPEN THEIR MOUTH TO SPEAK.
THE ENAMEL TOWARDS THE INSIDE OF THE MOUTH BECOMES VERY THIN AS IT'S DISSOLVED AWAY.

Because of the acidity and bacteria in the vomit. The acid affects the enamel of your teeth and the bacteria wears away your gum tissue.
