chkdsk would Not run..C.drive could not be locked so i did a query in cmd... and then it said set to dirty so i did to se eif it would do anything and i set it to dirty,how do i fix?

Basically it only sets the bit for the chkdsk to run on the next restart. No big problem, just reboot and let it do its thing. After that the bit is reset.

Reboot,

Every time Windows XP starts, Autochk.exe is called by the Kernel to scan all volumes to check if the volume dirty bit is set. If the dirty bit is set, autochk performs an immediate chkdsk /f on that volume. Chkdsk /f verifies file system integrity and attempts to fix any problems with the volume.

If that can't fix it you may be getting close to needing a new drive! Sometimes bad sectors etc can start causing non-fixable issues. If that occurs the drive is near failure so its best to replace it before total failure.
