My daughter has had food allergies and also eczema since she was born. What she is allergic to sometimes changes, but the allergies are not curable. Some people do grow out of or just get over certain food allergies. My daughter's current list is:
peanut, wheat, milk, egg, soy

This is a difficult list, especially as she was allergic to wheat and soy, then tested allergy free for those for about two years, and is not back to being allergic to them. Very heartbreaking.

We are lucky that she does not have anaphylactic reactions, but her eczema gets very bad, and in some cases, she will vomit and become lethargic not long after eating the food that she is allergic too.

I was allergic to milk as a baby, but have since grown out of it.

Here's an article that talks about the possibility of someday curing food allergies:

Well the best way for me to answer this for you is to tell you I have had air born (inhaled) allergies most of my life. I have become allergic to all the weeds, all the trees, all the grasses, cockroaches, cats and dogs.

From there I started becoming allergic to foods. First wheat, which is obviously a grass. Then walnuts and I'm becoming sensitive to peanuts, and melons. I found out the hard way I'm allergic to shellfish. I was on a trip and consumed one shrimp and my throat began to close off. I took several benadryls and felt like death warmed over for several days after. Since then my children and my husband have become allergic to shellfish also. Strange that my husband and I both would have the same allergy to shellfish since he has never had any allergy problems at all.

I believe that all of my inhalant allergies have pushed me to the point that I am now reacting to foods. I think I am a good example of why people with inhalant allergies need treatment to keep them from becoming allergic to foods.

I have had inhalant type allergies most of my life and sensitivity to high acid fruits on and off most of my adult life with itching and soreness of mouth and tongue. But now, in my 50's I have suddenly developed a food allergy! I am Very allergic to - of all things - chili peppers! They cause burning, itching in mouth and tongue, numbness and swelling of tongue and constriction of airway with trouble breathing and wheezing. No one else that I know of in my family has any type of food allergy. Just chronic sinus probs. I am also the first in my family to develop asthma. Probably a connection there somewhere!

I have an allergy to anything with a higher alcohol content than beer. My face breaks out in hives. I developed it two years ago. It really sucks, cause I am not a big fan of beer I'd rather have some tequila, but a Benedryl will always clear it up.

I am allergic to chicken and turkey; my mom is too. Both of us developed this allergy at nearly age 30. I am also allergic to eggs, honey, cherries, beets, and coffee. I used to be allergic to nearly all raw fruits and vegetables. After being on allergy desensitation shots for pollen allergies for five years, my allergy to raw fruits and vegetables went away. My daughter is allergic to yellow #5. She became allergic to it around age two. My son is lactose intolerant; this started at 15 months.

I have Celiac DIsease, an autoimmune disease, often mistaken for food allergies. It is not curable.
I cannot eat gluten, protein in wheat, rye and barley.
It is present at birth but needs to be triggered by something such as inefction, illness, pregnancy, stress, etc.
It is genetic and heredtary.

i have an allergy to high-acid fruits...it's not serious...my tongue swells a bit and my throat gets itchy. i do know that allergies change as you get older. you can grow out of and grow into allergies every several years. typically they don't go away, but the severity can be lessened as your body changes.
just go get tested with a doctor, and your body will feel ten million times better once you understand the way it works.
