I'm thinking a dark plum color. I should also add that I have dark oak cabinets and 2 large windows. I also have dark oak paneling that I'm debating on removing or painting a cream color. HELP! :)

I would go with a light sage/celedon color. Or a seafoam. A really really light green basically.

I think that a plum color would be beautiful. Shades of purple are a very *now* trend in kitchen decor. If you do decide on the plum, I would mos def paint the paneling a lighter shade. Glidden has a cream color called "Indian Painting" that would look great.

I think the dark plum color is a good idea, but like someone else said, it's going to make it dark. I would suggest finding some paint to match the countertops and accent with it--either the backsplashes under the cabinets or any trim.

A dark color will make the room look smaller. You already have the dark cabinets. How about a soft green or a creamy yellow. It sounds like it will clash, but it will look great with the dark cabinets. AS far as the paneling, PAINT IT....we painted our basement with KILZ paint. Now you can have it tinted colors.
Good Luck!

a light blue (like cornflower) would look great with yellow and would help to brighten up the room. A dark color would only make the paneling and cabinets look darker.

You obviously don't object to dark colors so why not a deep red?
