Just so some of you can get a clue--the word "apple" is probably the most insignificant part of this question (i'm using it as a metaphor, just like the bible!)

God would have found some other reason to get mad at them. He had it out for them right from the very beginning. Why else would he put a nasty trap like the Tree of Knowledge right in the middle of their garden? It was a frame-up, plain and simple.

Actually, I wonder what would have happened if Adam and Eve had eaten from the Tree of Life _before_ they ate of the Tree of Knowledge. Apparently, since God was in such a hurry to get them away from the Tree of Life, he would have been powerless to kill them after that, (otherwise, why would he care about the Tree of Life?)

It sort of seems like God was taking a stupid chance having both the trees available. Since eating the Tree of Knowledge caused all their offspring to become sinful, I wonder if eating from the Tree of Life would have made all their offspring immortal?

From a hypothetical biblical standpoint, none of us might be here. Adam and Eve gained knowlege after eating the apple, I believe the knowlege of procreation. I can't remember if Adam and Eve were given mortal lifespans upon creation, or if their presence in the Garden of Eden gave them supernatural livespans, but if the former was the case then Adam and Eve might have just lived in the garden, unaware of what sex was, and they might have just died off with no progeny. If my understanding of the myth is correct the earth today would just be one big conservation park. Maybe my understanding is off; I haven't studied this myth for a few years.

I will assume that when you say "apple", you actually mean fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and of evil.

Paradise on earth. No deserts, no high mountains that are impossible to live on, etc. No wars, only peace and good will. Furthermore, no thorns or thistles, bees wouldn't sting people, and we wouldn't get the stomach flue. There would be no aids, cancer or leprousy. No murders, thefts, child abuse, spousal abuse, pornography or hate crimes. We would have been allowed to eat of the fruit of Life, so no death or debilitating diseases. Love, joy and peace would run rampant, and respect for others. There would be no mental diseases, nobody would be mentally retarded. Best, we would have a living vital relationship with God as our heavenly Father, and we wouldn't need so much "faith" to trust Him in everything.

We would have progressed scientifically a lot quicker because we would be able to use 100% of our brain rather than a mere 6 to 10%.

I don't think Jesus would have to die on the cross because we would all be serving Him wholeheartedly.

They had permission to eat all the apples, bananas, pears and oranges that they wanted. They messed up by eating the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They did something that God told them not to do - after Satan tricked them into believing that God was just a big meanie on a power trip, bent on controlling them....... funny, Satan tricks people just that same way today.

How do you know it was even an apple? The Bible only says it's a fruit.

I guess, then, people wouldn't believe in the concept of sin.

Jesus would never of had to have been crucified.

The firmament would still be intact and our climate would be different.

I have asked that many times :)
