I say that because it seems every weapon covered is portrayed as unstoppable and invincible. There was a feature of the Osprey, and not one mention of the numerous test crashes were mentioned! What the hell!

The host makes it seem like every weapon covered is the perfect weapon. He brought DragonSkin on and nothing penetrated it. I can't honestly believe that's true. If it were, that would be a revolution in body armor technology that would have been proclaimed to the masses everywhere.

Am I crazy or do other people see this about this show?

wmcritter, you are an outright liar! The show never covered the crashes!

You show me that episode! It never discusses the crashes or safety measures! Do you work for the show or a defense company?

I totally agree with you. The USA military industry is beside Big Oil the most massive industrial force in the world. From Boeing to Northrop and catering Industries like Haliburton, they all convert our tax Dollar from the average tax payer into the pockets of a few CEO's, Politicians and Generals.

Of course its about show. Its on TV. Why does this surprise you? Having said that, the stuff they show is revolutionary and is top of the line...right now. Right now is the key phrase. Just like stealth technology, right now it is unstoppable but someone, somewhere will find a way to beat it.

Why would they mention the test failures of the Osprey? The show was about the Osprey as a deployed weapon of war. They're going to talk about what the Osprey can do. If the show were about the development of the Osprey, then yes, you'd expect them to talk about the crashes.

And DragonSkin can stop most everything out there. That's why its revolutionary. Is it perfect? No. But it is the best body armor to date.

The best to date is the message they're trying to convey.

Clearly, you have never watched a whole episode or haven't paid attention. The show did cover the crashes of the Osprey, and spent a lot of time on the safety issues.

They also pointed out in the DragonSkin episode that it had failed the army's testing and not yet been adopted.

You really should pay better attention and know what you are talking about.

Propaganda? Very little on that show has a thing to do with the US government - almost all the weapons are design models from private companies (a lot aren't even in the US) that make weapons. 'Advertisement' would maybe be a more apt term.

I think people just watch it because it's interesting.

Oh, and yeah I think there IS a revolution in body armor going on. A lot of US troops even buy their own body armor from the civilian market that's better then what you are issued. "Dragonskin" is one of those. The number of lives that have been saved with body armor that actually stops rifle caliber bullets is an amazing thing.

The term "propaganda" indicates some type of government plot to control the populations thinking.

I do not think that this term is applicable to this television show.

I have seen the show and it portrays developments in the defense industry with a positive spin. In my opinion the producers do this for entertainment purposes.

I personally dont watch the show, the host is extremely annoying.

I agree about the Osprey. That thing is a nightmare, but

You should probably watch the show more than once.

They have had German, British and Israeli weapons.

The Idea is to show the people some of the newer things(that aren't top secret) about the military and showing the technological advances in keeping the military safe and the countries they serve secure.

Mack was also a US navy SEAL so he is biased, but the last 60 years the US military has dominated technological warfare.

I have not seen the show, but most of those shows always talk about the positive. I think it has more to do with keeping viewers hooked.

They had a seperate show a few years back for the blunder weapons, and thats what it was marketed as.

No, it's not propaganda b/c the military is not going to let everyone in the world know all about the technology they're going to use. If they did, they wouldn't have the upper hand! Anything the miltiary is planning on using will stay secret until they use it (can we say atomic bomb? Hydrogen bomb? No one knew about it until it was used hence Hiroshima, etc.)

No, as a former service member, I know that when a weapon is designed there are flaws. No matter what there will always be flaws, but that is where the updates come in and make it better.
