I am going to college in Septmeber and I will recieve extra loan money from what was leftover from other loans. My aunt, whom I am living with, would like to borrow a few hundred dollars to stock up on groceries for the family (including me). Should I ask her to pay it back? Some of it? It is my money but I am living with her and eating some of the food she'll buy... What should I do? I am having a hard time with this decision... Help!!

You should probably give it to her as a gift, because you are living in her home, eating some of the food and contributing to the other household utilities. If she repays you, good for you, but don't expect it back, otherwise you may resent her for taking the money. Besides, she probably does feel you owe her something for staying there.

No, if money isn't a huge issue you should just give it to her. Are you paying rent? She may be trying to let you know she needs some money or thinks you should be paying rent, although that's just a thought and might not be true at all. But IMO you should just give her the money and not expect payback, it's a major imposition having someone live with you.

Maybe you should tell her that it will be hard for you to loan her the whole thing without expecting some of it back. Either lend her less or get her to pay you some back.
Being a student is hard. Good luck :)

Never loan money to a friend or family unless you don't need it back.

If you are living with her, eating her food, using her water etc. Then you may want to rpesent it as a gift for her letting you stay there.

Keep up a house is NOT cheap.

Just give her the money and not ask her back. She is supporting you and after all, you are eating the food she buys.
