Depends on who owned it and if they can produce service records. If they can sufficiently provide proof that the oil changes and normal maintainence have been done in a timely matter not to mention recently, it could last you another 100k. Its a Lexus afterall. If it were a domestic, then I would say definitely no.

Any vehicle with 259,000 miles is a risky purchase. If you can afford a significant repair bill should there be a problem, then maybe it would be OK. If I had 3000 and wanted to get the most for my money, I'd go for an older Honda or Toyota (who make Lexus) with fewer miles. Lexus' are significantly more expensive to repair than the lower end Toyotas, but are, essentially, the same car (without the fluff). I would never buy a vehicle with 259,000 miles as I would not be prepared to pay for a new engine or other potential repairs.
Check the value on kbb.com.

I would NEVER buy a foreign car with that much mileage. The repair costs for the engine and transmission are UNBELIEVABLE verses domestic power trains.
Call a local engine and transmission shop,,not the dealer for heavens sake, and check for yourself the repair costs.
Good Luck

whoo find another car with a whole lot less miles. that engine can go further but then again it wouldn't.see if he is willing to give you a repair report and take it to a mechanic for a second opinion, because the life of that engine is really short after 259000 miles . i would say you will be lucky to make it to 300000

It's 12 years old, and has 259,000 miles. I would not buy that.
I wouldn't buy anything over 200,000, because some vehicles don't go much farther after that.

Please do not buy that car ---- even if it looks cool ____ it will need another $3000-- in repairs in less time than you think ... get a car that has fewer miles on the dash and less chance of costing you big $$'s in a short time.......... keep looking for a better ride ...

older cars with that much wear and tear.theres only one reason to get rid of it it cost to much to repair and parts are hard to get.mabey 200.00 would be a fair price if you dont have to push it home.
