You should be able to get a job as an Assistant or
Duty Manager with a level 3. However for a Unit Manager you will need a level 4.

It really depends on the local authority that you intend to work for. Years ago, the requirement was for someone with a nursing qualification, even if it wasn't a nursing home. Then it changed to someone who had a management qualification, but since then it has tended to be someone with a Social Work qualification.

My advice to you would be to telephone the local authority that you wish to work for and ask them. There should be no problem with that, apart from getting to speak to the correct person. It seems that when I asked the question I was sent from one person to another for absolutely ages.

Have you thought of asking your line manager at the place you currently work at, or even telephoning your own Training Department? (Don't worry about letting your line manager know your intentions. They may see it as 'desertion' on your part, but they're as likely to see it as a natural progression for you.)

Both approaches show a mature approach, and problem solving abilities on your behalf.

Go for it. I promise you, you won't regret it.
