Don't reply, if he still keeps bugging you, get his number blocked. Replying to him gives him hope, and you don't want him to think you might change your mind if he finds the right thing to say, do, or give you. If he starts harrassing you, and you are worried about your safety, get a restraining order.

Do not reply. As long as you reply whether right away or later just gives him the impression that you didn't really mean it. So, don't reply.....ever. If his messages become threatening, then save them and show them to the police. Get their advice on what to do from there.

Ignore

If you don't wish to talk to him anymore, then DO NOT respond. Responding sends the signal that you want contact even if you have said you don't. Keep your thoughts and your actions on the same page to avoid confusion.

If he continues to contact you, then change your number, or block his number from your phone. Most phone companies have a service to block numbers. If it continues, then its moving into stalking territory and its time to check into the laws and make the appropriate moves.

Ignore his calls and messages, dont reply, he'll get the hint, or if not, then just change your number...

Might be easier (though not necessarily fair) to just change you number and be done with it.....

In the interim, the answer is yes, it is better not simply delete it and not reply

Change or block his number and texts. Whatever you do, dont continue to talk to him. As long as there is communication on your end he will continue to think he has a chance...

Don't respond even if it's a negative response. Just ignore him. He will eventually stop.

However, if you still like him in a way, then it's up to you.

Don't reply. Change your phone number, email, IM, whatever.

I say ignor him and if that doesn't work be rude to him(you've already told him nicely and that didn't work, right?) Tell him to get a life.
