Do you have enough to do at work to completely fill your 8 hour day?

I have been working now for over 20 years in a professional office job. I have worked in a variety of professional jobs in a number of different companies. Only one thing is true at all jobs: I have never had constantly enough work to keep me busy all day. I look for work, I make work, I beg for work and do everything I can to get and do more work. None of these efforts are good enough. I am just not challenged and am never busy enough. My bosses tell me they are impressed with all the things I get done. But I am still bored and not challenged enough.

So do you have enough work to keep you busy all day at the office?

I have been working in an office setting going on 6 yrs now. At my last job, I found myself begging for more work, so much that they actually asked me to leave "if I'm that unhappy". It wasnt that I was unhappy, it was just that I was bored and didn't feel challenged. I am curious as well if its just a standard thing or if we are only finding jobs that arent quite as busy as others.

Sounds like you need to get into a new field. I used to work at a job where I played on the computer all day. It was awful! Now I have more work than I can handle, but it's much better than before.

If I did, I wouldn't be answering your question! I have had jobs however when I did, most notably as a medical assistant in a pediatric office. I left exhausted from that job! And of course it was the lowest paying job I've ever had.
But you get praise for having such a great work ethic!

Nope. I always just sit at my office and wait for the day to pass. During this time, I just socialize with my co-workers or go out shopping for groceries. My boss doesn't really care what I do as long as the work gets done.

you should consider yourself lucky. I work in a office where time just flies by, and still I have a lot work to do. I often work overtime, just to get the job done and it is exhausting.
